What is the reason the Marathon Navigator case is designed the way it is, looks or function?

All of Marathon's production would be, in my opinion, for function over fashion. They are government contract, so I don't think that the government cares about the flashiness of a soldiers watch.

+1. For example, they could've made the case symmetrical, but there's no functional reason to, so why waste the material? A flat mineral or sapphire crystal could've been used, but the domed acrylic is designed to flex and remain intact under sudden depressurization up to 35,000 feet.
