Has someone gone mad or am i seeing just a transparent red G-Shock for 25k ? I can get a transparent red hatchback for that kind of money lol, not some plastic watch.
To some people money is no object. They already own everything and this is just another trophy.

I personally wouldn't be interested even if I had the money. It doesn't even look good and is it really that special? It just a pink gel bezel and picture on the backplate, its only sought after due to its rareness.

But these retailed for under $4k and they want $25k... somewhere, someone has got/will get mugged.

Yeah, and costs Casio pennies to manufacture. Laughing all the way to the bank.

Murakami is a famous artist whose works sell for millions of dollars. I think the price of the Frog simply reflects the value of his creations.

If we were taking about a Van Gogh, Picasso, or Warhol designed watch, it might make more sense to us (aside from the anachronism) because they are household names whereas Murakami is not, at least not where I come from.

This guy's got one

not to mention a pretty sick collection to boot!

Danny Mai does not have one, his wife have one, the one he shows is his wife's piece. She is a very special lady as she sometimes just stores her Murakami in her handbag and she actually wears it. A unique faith for a Murakami art piece hehe:-d

Someone informed me in a PM that spare resin was available. I have therefore investigated this and yup it seems I was wrong. A few sets have been made but only lately. Apparently Casio did not list these sets until 2013. Perhaps they realised some spares must be available for those that paid thousand of dollars for their watches?:rodekaart They are normally not available to order, only available as service parts when you send in your watch for service(do not know if they are still available now though). That explains the rarity of them. But seriously the seller on Yahoo who charged the same price for a set of plastic and some screws as a entire new watch used to cost? That is a scalping seller with no moral standards at all!:-d

That's cool. And hey, he can't say, "My wife wouldn't let me get it" because his wife is the one getting it!

I can just see some of the guys from this forum on a dating site writing: "Wanted in a partner: Must be willing to buy rare / expensive G-Shocks and let me handle them as much as I want." :)

Actually, I think it's Danny's sister that owns one. Not his Mrs. And as if owing one isn't crazy enough, I know of a "collector" that has 14 of those damn things!

What is the point in owning 14 ?

2 with one to wear one to keep pristine maybe 3 - making this the backup, at the max ......but unless you are a reseller there is little point in owning that many of exactly the same piece!

And do they wear any of them ?

14 x $25k = lotta cash
He probably bought them when they were $4K a piece.

Buying 14 of a piece limited to 300 is immoral and evil to the rest of the collector community! Must be a scalper...:rodekaart

So he can use it to make a giant clock out of it:

He does wear them. Is not a reseller. Plans to use it for charity purposes later on, for the welfare of kids. great guy!

Now that will be a good and positive thing to use them for ...although I think there must be better ways to raise money for their favourite charity!

Interesting perspective, see G-Shocks as interesting art pieces that can benefit children and others. Must be a very generous soul to do that. I think I remember seeing someone in the G group who talked about this charity thing but I do not remember who it was.

He is a huge G-Shock fan, in fact I think he has the biggest collection that I know of at least, well over a 1000.. He said he bought them cause he did not want it falling into the wrong hands. says It's art 2 him. Think it's better if I just post what he said on FB:

" I chose almost 1 year ago start collecting. At first I wanted to get 100 the more I learned the more I fell in love. I am not a hoarder nor am I a reseller. I buy multiple pieces for the simple reason that I don't like to see art fall in to the hands of resellers or people who don't appreciate it. I will never sell, my goal is to figure out a way to put my collection up for the better of kids here in Philippines. My time now is spent working with charities and I hope one day these pieces of art in one way or another will help achieve the goal of putting kids in school that right now don't have that chance. There is a vision here I just don't know how to execute it yet. But it will happen and I hope to be remembered not as GSC a crazy collect but as GSC a crazy collector who used the art to help kids. I don't put up my picture because my son mom asked me not to post my photo online and I have to respect that but also because this collection is not about an individual it's about a cause. I love u all. GSC"

Really great guy. He has fun with his watches, makes some cool pics like these:
