I know that title's a bit much, but hear me out. I bought a DW5600E for $40 the other day, I'm no stranger to the 5600E, this will be I believe the fourth one I've had in my life, but this is the first time I've had both a 5600E and a 5600C together. And my God, the quality of the 5600C is just miles above the 5600E. I get that they switched to resin cases with backplates to save cost, but was it really necessary. G-Shock sold just fine for some 12 years before the switch. And while I understand the switch in materials, why did they remove the dual time function, and the reminder function, and why did they add that god awful raised "Protection" and "G-Shock"? I'd be more okay with the switch from SS case and screwback to resin case and backplate if they at least kept the functions and the perfect design of the 5600C. Despite having a brand new 5600E, I find myself wearing my 20 year old, beat up 5600C more. And while the 5600E is a proven design, and easily just as tough, if not more tough than the 5600C, I just can't get used to the design. If Casio were to come out with a 5600C reissue, without the raised words on the bezel, and with the original functions and a stainless case and screwback, I'd pay whatever price they ask for it. Am I alone in thinking this?
