Hi

I have this watch now and its like a tank and this to me is a keeper.

Just one question out of curiosity, will this watch be discontinued anytime in the close future?
Because i am possibly thinking of getting a backup down the road sometime, maybe in a couple of years or so.
Question is, will stores or watch shops continue to sell these Mudman model Gshocks like the G9000 (module 3031)?

Personally, I just do not like the newer model G's out there now, there too "flashy" and "colorful and too "over-stylish".

I wish stores can continue selling the Mudman G9000s.

So I am thinking about getting a backup G9000 Mudman in the future, so I hope watch stores will still have them around.
Hopefully.

Many thanks

The only people who know FOR CERTAIN when Casio will discontinue a particular model work for Casio, and they're not talking!

Casio made the DW-6600 for almost 20 years before discontinuing it.

They've been making the DW-5600E for more than 20 years and it hasn't been discontinued yet.

They've already stopped making certain color variants of the GW-9400 Rangeman, and that model was only released in 2013!

The G-9000 has been succeeded by several other Mudmen versions since it was released eight years ago: the solar/atomic GW-9000, the G-9010, the G- and GW-9300 -- so it would seem LOGICAL that if they were going to discontinue one Mudman model, they would probably discontinue the oldest one first. Then again, they may discontinue the one with the least sales, and who knows which one that is? For all we know, they might discontinue the GW-9000 since it's only "Multiband 5" and release a 6 band version.

If you want to buy another G-9000, I'd either do it now (so it's one less thing to lose sleep over!) or check in here every few months and search for "9000 discontinued." After a model is discontinued it usually takes a while until prices start to artificially rise as a result.

It will be discontinued. The question is when. I would say though that it might be wiser to just buy back up resins. Since resin rot would be an issue for the long term.

Well, maybe or maybe not...I don't now. Time will tell.
But I do like this model. The red buttons seems a bit "tacky" but still, love this thing.

Or maybe I will get a DW5600-E while there still around ...Who knows.

Again, thanks to all of you for the help.

Mannn... you just got the watch and you already worried about when will it be discontinued?

you even create some threads just because you're worry about the battery change on your NEW watch!

the idea of g-shock is so the owner dont have to worry about the watch... just enjoy it... i understand that you really like it NOW, but the cycle continue when you get your next better G.

well, if you have the money and could afford some back up, then do it... so you could stop worrying about it... for a moment. =)

I don't think the Mudman is going anywhere just yet and even if one day it did Casio would probably just bring out another model with similar functionality and looks. Just chill and enjoy your watch! It's going to last you for years anyway so don't worry about what Casio is going to do in a decades time.

The thing about the 9000 is that it's size is fantastic for the world market and it rocks a great price point. I don't think it is getting discontinued anytime soon.

Having said that I fully encourage you to check out different versions of the G-9000 and G-9025 and get a 2nd one and enjoy [emoji6]

In the US stores including Kohls and JC Penney have been discounting heavily the 9000 Mudman and still they stick around in the back of the watch displays. Got mine cheap when buying my wife another Casio, asked the sales lady to let me check it out as there were 2 of them on display and she wouldn't let me out of the store without it. Got both watches for under $100.
Checked again recently and the other one is still there in the back by the lights. While Casio probably stopped making them a while ago, they aren't gonna go away anytime soon. They made way too many of them for that. Never gonna be rare or HTF.

Besides isn't it the same module as the GW-M850? There's tons of them around too.

I have a DW5600 :) It's a great watch partner to your Mudman.

If you like the model so much, buy another one with a different color. You can always stock up on bezels and bands/straps. Remember.....the zombies are coming, you can use your new toy as a tank for safety.....lol

JUST BUY ANOTHER MUDMAN AND STOP WORRYING.

GW-M850 shares a functionally identical module with the GW-9010, not the 9000.

The G9000-1V with the black bezel and band and the red buttons with the positive display is still being manufactured by Casio and Casio also makes the G9000-MS military series version with the negative display too. The G9000 is still around today and it’s on its 16th year in production since it was introduced back in 2006.
