Just picked up my new Nomos Orion Datum 38 and absolutely love this watch ! However, I can't say I am crazy about the plain black leather band that came with it.
The stated lug to lug width is 19mm - I have heard rumors (my Jeweler) that a 20mm band will fit this watch just fine - - does anyone know if this is true or not?
Also, any band suggestions for this watch ?
I would like to be able to present this watch in both a semi casual as well as a dressy environment
Any pictures would really be appreciated as well
Thanks in advance

Hey Austin congrats on the Nomos Orion. I have the Tangente 38 which also has 19mm lugs. Yes it is easy enough to squeeze on straps that are 1mm larger and drilled lugs definitely makes it easier to get them off later. Personally I've just stuck to 19mm straps via having some custom straps made but there are plenty of companies who make 19mm straps as well. Whatever you do just don't size down to 18mm because you don't want that gap there. Mesh is an option that you could try and is doable at 19mm, just not in the straight bar end link style. My suggestion for something casual is perhaps try out a minimal stitch (some call it Hodinkee) style strap. That might dress the watch down a bit but I'm not sure how it will look on the Orion. Here are some photos of my Tangente on a strap of that style to possibly give you some ideas and a photo of my Stowa on a similar strap as well.

First I've heard anyone not liking a genuine shell cordovan strap. Can't fine tougher, longer lasting leather. Only type I would own personally. Have some custom made as well.

20mm straps will fit just fine. WatchBandCenter out of Germany has plenty of 19mm strap offerings as well.

Maybe the OP could try Shell Cordovan in a different colour. WatchBandCenter will have lots of options.

I felt the same way when I got my Orion. I could tell the leather was great quality, but from an aesthetic perspective, it just didn't do it for me. I went with a dark brown genuine alligator strap from Freda. It's on the thinner side, which suits the watch, and I think the alligator looks right at home on the Orion if you're wearing it as a dress watch. Here's the link, and I'll try to post a picture later. Genuine Louisiana Alligator Made in Italy (Matte)

Ditto. Also ordered the brown leather from the Nomos Store for the Orion, and a dark brown velour one is also on it's way home. Feel the brown straps make the Orion look better, and less 'dressy'.

Thank you very much -- great looking straps -- and YES, I would love to see a photo of this strap on your Nomos for sure

Congrats on a stunning watch and welcome to the club!
You'll discover it's incredibly versatile as time goes on, I find it's perfect for the office and smart casual.
Of course it's perfect for a suit too.

My favourite strap is the suede one from Nomos;

Takes the watch to a whole new level.
I wear mine more or less daily now and the strap really makes that possible.
Brings out all the colours of the dial too.

Is that the "Beige" color? It looks awesome. Seems the store only has 17mm and 18mm right now though.

Would you happen to know how thick this band is?
I have sent an email to the folks at the link you provided, but have not received a response
Thanks in Advance

I was told when I ordered that it's about 4mm, and that seems to be pretty spot on. It's not too thick for the Orion in my opinion.
You are "spot on" -I jus got reply from Kenny and he said it is 3.75 mm
I am going to ahead and order one -- yours looks really GREAT !
I will probably order the suede one from Nomos as well as he photo of that one looks really good as well
