This watch was purchased at a strange time in all of our lives and was a mark of triumph over adversity in my own. In addition to the pandemic, I was facing a major family crisis throughout April 2020. By May, I had come through it a stronger, wiser man with chaos managed. I had been saving for a watch for almost a year and had decided that this was the time I wanted to pull the trigger. I knew I wanted a watch that could be dressed up or down, had a screw-down crown, and was a classic design and size. My choices came down to a Sinn 556 with the blue dial and H link bracelet (still would love one of these) and a Sinn 104 St in tuxedo black. Days before I was going to place the order, my mother sent me a picture of the Tudor 1926 and I was instantly sold. I loved the classic 36mm size and the obvious nod to the Datejust while still maintaining some creative integrity and a unique history. Most importantly, it was accessible at a boutique to try on and purchase. While I could have paid less online, I am very glad that I decided not to. I was able to share the experience with my mother, who purchased her first nice watch, a two-tone Rolex Lady Datejust, at the very same store in the late 80s. Overall, I could not be happier with my choice. The watch keeps incredible time and has fit the role I hoped it would as a "go anywhere, do anything watch".
