So, how long have you kept a mechanical watch ticking in case it was your daily wearer? I guess most collectors have to deal with their watches stopping every now and then, I'm personally more inclined to a one-watch collection, and I got curious. Years maybe? I guess servicing and time setting...

This is my first automatic watch, however I read the guide and watches some tutorials. When I try to set the time from 2nd position crown - it winds hour hand instead of minute hand. Does that mean the watch is defective? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Hi all, I just noticed that my speedy's crown quite suddenly started recoiling when winding it. It's not fully wound, so it's not that. Can someone please explain to me, in layman's terms, why this is happening and if it's natural/OK? Is this something that goes away? Please help a new speedy...

Hi all, I found a Vostok 2414a movement in a regular Komandirskie case in my drawer. There is no rust in it but when I try to unscrew the crown and wind it there is no tension which normally would. There is still those clicking sound by the way. And I noticed on the dial while trying to wind it...

Hi, As a proud owner of a classic Komandirskie and an Amfibia, I recently got yet another Vostok, this time from Meranom: https://meranom.com/en/komandirskie-classic/vostok-watch-komandirskie-350645.html After about 1 month of (non-continuous) use, I started having some issues with it...

Just scored this very cool, unique Clinton World Timer with a dive bezel. The seller (on the 'Bay) was very communicative and obviously put some work into restoring the watch, including a "minor service". Everything feels buttery smooth. My vintage watches are mostly hand-wound and I was...

Celebrating the launch of a new journey for Grand Seiko, the first Grand Seiko model, the Ref. 3180 has been recreated in modern form. The creation of Grand Seiko by Suwa Seikosha was lead by Tsuneya Nakamura, who's inspiration was to create the ideal practical watch. In 1960, the 1st Grand...

I received the SARB 033 via UPS, it was running when I opened the box. I wound it about 20 times, set the time and date. I did not wear it and put it in my watch case. It was running before I went to bed, the next morning it had stopped. I am estimating the span of hours from my initial winding...

Dear WUS I would like to ask your opinions whether I need to get my watch looked it. I got my Black Bay Burgundy 2012 ETA version pre-owned, at a good condition. However I find that it is stopping everytime it is off my wrist for less than 20 hours. I read that it should have a 38 hour power...

Hi everyone. My names Rich and I recently was lucky enough to purchase a 2012 Classic Fusion with a ceramic case, carbon dial and a black Alligator strap. With the bits i received the previous owner didn't still have the user manual so I was provided with a PDF from the shop (watchfinder). The...

Is it detrimental to the watch's health? I have a manual wind right now, and even when I don't use it, I just keep winding it every 2 days or so to keep it going. I somehow didn't like the idea that my watch will "stop" - Not only concerning the oil on the parts, but also the effort it takes to...

Hey guys, looking for some advice. I've recently decided I'd like to acquire a vintage manual winding watch. Ideally the watch would be sub £100, and a decent brand. I don't know if a watch that fits these parameters exists, but would be grateful if anyone could point me in the right direction...

Hi All Ive just purchased a brand new speedmaster (new large box with goodies) with the 1863 movement. I pulled it out of the box, admired it for a minute then fully wound it until i felt resistance. As i was watching the escapement beat away i noticed it slow down and stop, as if the main...

Hi, I bought an HMT Sona and found that the time is set by moving the crown counter-clockwise when pulled out. When I turn the crown counter-clockwise (when pushed in) it turns easily and I can hear clicks, but it turns endlessly. I've turned it about 100 rounds already with no resistance...

I recently stumbled upon a "Lucerne" watch that has a Brac 50x series movement, which looks almost identical to the one pictured here (mine has a date mechanism on the face side): The Metatechnical Cabinet - Brac 502 This watch is in good shape, with the exception that the "ratchet" mechanism...

Greetings folks, I've recently moved to a new continent and have decided to get a watch to mark the event, but I don't know very much about them. I've been perusing these forums for a bit though and have decided I want to go with a hand-winder. I'm also really keen on the display backs. I...
