A thread of nothing but my absolute grail and dream watch… just wow. I’d take one over two Rolex’s regardless of value. One day soon I hope… 🥲

For me the Blancpain Fifty Fathom represent one hell of a heritage. I recently added a Bathyscaphe to my collection. I love the watch is appearance and at 43mm they barely fit my wrist. I love the watch so much I overlook the slight oversizing for me. I find it strange they don't have more of a following being the first watch manufacturing company. It's remarkable that they're still in business and they don't have a bigger following but at 30 watches per day output they aren't flooding the market.

Big fan of these stunning divers. Now starting to do some research on the range and options. Although I have a 7.5 inch wrist, like many of you, my tastes have steered away from the 42+mm pieces into 38-41mm territory. Any advice on which references I should be taking a look at would be greatly appreciated. Will consider new but leaning towards pre-owned.
Thanks & Best wishes
😀👍

I agree @BrisBlade. I just recently discovered that one could get a modern ~40mm Fifty Fathoms. Unfortunately, most are limited editions and not normal production models. The No Rad, Ocean Commitment III, and Barracuda are few on my radar.

I wish I would have known this before I bought my 38mm Bathy (REF: 5100B 1110 B52A). It's an amazing watch, but I think the honeymoon period is over.

Happy hunting!

Cheers mate.

While in Germany in 2018 I visited a Blancpain authorized watch shop and was duly impressed. Further research
revealed the French Naval influence on the early Aqua-Lung and Fifty Fathom references. 1953 was a
very busy year both for Blancpain and Rolex. Both companies pursued the early dive models. There is some validity
in the belief that strong marketing and advertising influenced the Rolex success with the Submariner. While owning
some relatively rare gilt dialed 5512 and 1680 red Submariners, I am intrigued as a military diver with the early Faraday
caged Blancpain references. I think it is time to add a Blancpain earlier 38mm to my collection. They are very well made
and the contribution to undersea horology is significant.

For me it goes:

1. No Rad
2. Barakuda
3. Hodinkee Mil Spec

I like the pop of color on the no rad (and the trefoil is cool). The Barakuda is a close second. Hodinkee Mil Spec third since it doesn't have a date plus I don't care for NATO straps.

I have to add one to the list, the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Bathyscape titanium, now on bracelet.

I had one on the NATO, sold it, couldn't live without it and just bought another on bracelet yesterday. My favourite, with the vertical brushed grey dial, liquid metal bezel and absolutely smoking lume.

So light, so easy to wear and so under the radar. It's the ultimate luxury stealth dive watch flex!

Come on… she will enjoy a vacation or new handbag…. You tell her it’s time to move on… or threaten divorce lol
Not that easy, unlike me she holds on to jewelry she loves, just 3 watches have managed to make her cut for the long haul, and she ain't letting go, with or without vacations and handbags. Your other suggestion? . . . nah, she's my keeper ;)
