I am new to collecting Russian watches. I love the forum and have learned in leaps and bounds from you guys.
My question is on Bostoks- I have seen a few 18 jewel movements (manual wind). I thought the manual winding movement was 17 jewels.
I have noticed that most of the 18 jewel movements are in Ministery cases and are USSR marked. Some are marked in English others in Cyrillic.

AFAIK AMPHIBIA 18js are earlier than 17js. So what you've found is right but these cannot be found only in "ministry" cases but (mostly) in "tonneau" (barrel) cases as well. Usually 18js aren't antimagnetic (first productions), but recently I found some antimagnetic too. 17js are all antimagnetic.
