1977 Accutron 219 tuning fork: hands stop before end of day

Hi all,

I recently bought a 1977 Bulova Accutron 2192.10 and it's almost working fine. I'm hoping to find out if this is a common / simple issue. The watch hums and all the hands move until just short of 11:40pm. Then the minute and hour hand are frozen in place and the seconds hand continues to freely move. I can advance the hands past this date no problem with the crown, but it keeps getting stuck here.

Has anyone heard of a problem like this?

It is hard to say what the cause is without examining the watch. The number of watchmakers able and willing to work on Accutrons is not great. There are a couple that accepts watches by mail, but American members will have to chime in with recommendations as I'm on the other side of the pond.

If you're looking to send it out for repair, that's the combined knowledge/experiences of the Accutron forum.
