Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - REGISTRATION LIST

OT:

Am I the only one that thinks the Laco top banner is very "gay"? The youngfly- boy could be a J.P. Gaultier model, and I am sure the Old Pipesmokng Guy is in a Scottish Malt ad. Or one of the old Ealing Comedies, the oneabout the Whiskey. Whiskey Galore I think it was called.. Super movie.

I do not see one German detail.

Mhhh. Maybe we should call the Special Edition model we are working on "Key West" ?

:-d

Typical Janne "Silver" comments, right?

Janne, there's an entire thread about the "new" banner in the main Laco forum. I was wondering why you hadn't posted anything in it; obviously you haven't seen it yet.
Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - REGISTRATION LIST

Missed it, sorry!

Edit: I can not find that thread!

It was discussed as a part of this thread.

Well, we can thus be assured that Laco puts way more effort in their watches than in their advertising, no?
Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - REGISTRATION LIST

Absolutely! I still think they make the best modern B-uhs on the market, despite the somewhat pedestrian movement.
Superior to IWC, etc etc

Janne,

You must be suffering from too much heat exposure!
Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - REGISTRATION LIST

No, I am an AC boy!

The only substandard (but costsaving) part is the ETA movement. I wish Laco gave an option to uprade to COSC.

Most ETA engined Laco B-uhrs are very true "copies" of the WW2 Laco B-uhs.

A close second are the B-uhr made by Stowa. Trust me, during the work with the WUS LE Laco I measured all the aspects of the original 55mm B-uhr, and Laco's 42mm one is pretty perfectly scaled down.

Hi Jan,

you are right, but.............

......but only
- after "frank.be" did all those improvements to a poor draft LACO presented to us originally,
- after the issue with the "so called blued" hands was settled
- after we complained about the unsatisfactory engravings in the back - we, not LACO's QM!

I am deeply disappointed that LACO support the development of this current model even less than two years ago.
I miss Mr.Pfeiffer more and more.

Volker, I think that you're being a little unfair.

Laco have been extremely supportive of this project and they have been checking in with me regularly for updates. If anything, they wanted to push this project at a pace that was faster than we could realistically work at. When everyone baulked at the base cost of the project watch with the Durowe movement, they were flexible enough to offer an alternative to lower the project's price.

You might as well blame WUS members for not supporting this project. Or better yet, blame me. I've been busier than expected at work and haven't had time to prepare drawings (not that this was supposed to be my job in the first place); because of this, the project has temporarily stalled. Fortunately, I'll have some time tomorrow to complete the drawings and hopefully we'll get this project back on track very soon. :-!

I assume the current linup have taken our work and improved it?

I look forward to resuming the discussion and voting for this SE!

@ Uwe W.:

Why?
Are you selling the watches? Is it your business to earn your living by producing watches?

You and Janne, all other forum members and I too are potential customers for goods we like, but not have to develop.
At a tailor's shop I tell them what sort of fabric, classic buttons or modern ones, three pieces or two pieces suit, etc. etc.

After every step they tell or better show me, how they understood or whether they can give an advice to make it better.

Volker ;-)

Project OVERVIEW thread updated.

Just a quick note to everyone that I've updated the Project's OVERVIEW thread to reflect the progress that we've made to date and that I'm currently working on drawings for the case back discussion.
Re: Project OVERVIEW thread updated.

Hi everybody.

Should I consider this project dead and move my savings to another watch, or should we all try to resurrect this project?

It's a new year, so I'm in favour of a resurrection. I'd really like to see this watch on my wrist some day.
