Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - GENERAL DISCUSSION

Hi,

Newbie to the site -- signed up when I saw a dedicated Laco forum here. Particularly interested in Laco and other German watches -- am also a happy owner of a Laco 42mm with Type B dial. I'd put my vote on a military-type, 45mm, and quite keen to see Janne's suggested artillery / sextant dial adopted for the project. Do we have any visibility on the costs at this time?

Apologies for having just jumped right in -- just wanted to express my interest in this project.

Cheers

Re: 2011 Laco Special Edition Project - GENERAL DISCUSSION

I suppose that before we put the options to a vote, we need to decide which options we're voting on. We need to agree on a shortlist.
Sure -- I believe you've covered the options fairly well, unless there's some more others would like to add. Cheers

PS: find it a bit weird, I seem to be seeing posts disappear and re-appear each time I refresh the page. Something wrong with the site just now?

...i could not find a pic of a wempe b-uhr i was sre had original hands, but from those 3 examples we can see that the hands had an identical design. They are not interchangable, as those movements are different, and i guess the stems (?) are different.

Nothing prevents us from being creative with the hands!
here's a Wempe:

got the pic from here -- B-Uhr. cheers

Re: Torpedo Theme

While I have a leaning towards the Artillery / Sextant dial (I actually bought a repro off eBay out of curiosity), the potential dials shown by Manera and Piccolo8 (Zenith) appeal to me as well. Re Manera's, I'd go without the sub-dial though. Both look quite unique, and clean -- neither cluttered nor empty. Thanks for sharing guys! |>

Re: Torpedo Theme

My compliments Manera -- you do quite impressive work :-!:-!:-!
+1 on the suggestion on having reversed / mirrored numerals -- that way we get to keep the artillery / sextant concept still in play ;-)

I hope you don't mind -- I took further liberty of adding some more ideas to your other sketch:

47 mm. It's a one-off from Steinhart, but the dial came from a Czech forum's project watch. They had decided to recreate an early example of the B-Uhr and I think they did a really nice job.

Thanks Uwe. Indeed, it looks nice and well executed. I'd say 47mm is just right, the one I've seen from Tourby is at 42mm, and has 0 at the 12 o'clock. Too bad there's not much of this early design available out there. Cheers
