A model showed up on the local buy/sell which normally I would have passed right by. DW-6930D-1

Gold has never been my thing, with only one watch in my collection (DW-5735D-1B) having any gold accents. Wanting to add a 30th anniversary model to the collection, I took a closer look at the watch and fell in love with the cf strap and the smoke (?) resin.

Though with all the gold I knew I would rarely wear it. But it was at a great price so I took the plunge. Got it home and once cleaned up (yeah, it was nasty under the bezel), the strap and resin looked even better. Once I placed it next to my DW-6900MS, I knew what had to happen. Swapping the cases gave me much less gold and the black clasp finished it off. I did try it with the bezel lettering intact but didn't care for the look and ended up stealthing the bezel as well. (apologies to purists for modding a limited anniversary model).

In sunlight the translucence of the resin shows clearly but in subdued light the look of the watch changes completely, becoming a deep inky black. Though for me, the strap is the star of this show having a premium feel and fit to it. Very happy with my de-blinging project. Hope you like it and thanks for looking everyone.

Why would you not just order a spare bezel, etc? Your watch, do what you want, but it does seem an awful shame to destroy the original parts.
