The 5600 model line is probably the G-shock series with the most variations. I found it very confusing looking at the different models and wondering what are the differences in features. So out of curiosity (and sheer boredom :-d), I created the tables below. It helped me understand better, hopefully will help you too.

Obviously, the tables are not complete. I may miss some of the models through the history of 5600. I may miss some of the model / module info as well. Your comments and feedback are important to make this as complete and accurate as possible.

Notes and Legend:

1. Band 2 = Japan and U.S. atomic time radio towers
2. Band 5 = All but China atomic time radio towers
3. Band 6 = All current 6 atomic time radio towers
4. ST = Stopwatch
5. TR = Count Down Timer
6. AR = Auto Repeat
7. 5s CD = 5 seconds count down
8. Prog. Beep = Progress Beep
9. 30c / 29z = 30 Cities / 29 Time Zones
10. SS = Stainless Steel. Ti = Titanium
11. DT = Dual Time. Not to be confused with DST = Daylight Saving Time.
12. A "Yes" for "Current Time for Other Modes" meaning the watch is able to display current time in at least 1 other mode.
13. For rechargeable batteries, the "Life" is the duration the battery can last without further charging, after a Full Charge (FC).
14. All Count Down Timers are adjustable to minutes, unless note otherwise.
15. All G's are 200m WR, +/- 15s time accuracy, and able to switch between 12/24h time formats, unless note otherwise.
16. All the rest of the info should be pretty self explanatory, if not just ask.
17. Related models are ones using the same / similar modules, and/or simillar case to the 5600s, excluding non G models.
18. The G056 is excluded, because both its case and module are different from the 5600s.
19. Look up your models from Table 1A, 1B & 1C first, then look at Table 2 for module info.
20. Please refrain from quoting the entire table in your comment! Just provide the feedback, I will update the tables in Post 1. Looks better that way, thanks!

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

The table came at a perfect time for me. A few days ago I decided to get a 5600 but was really confused about the features each variation had or didn't.

I searched n read threads for 2 days and I still could not decide which 5600 to get.

Thanks to your thread I managed to figure out that a G5600E would best suit my needs...all in a matter of minutes.

Great job !

How many colour combos does the G5600E come in ?

I don't mind the basic G5600E but I would prefer a more stealthy looking one. Does that even exist ?

Watch_geek,

This chart needs to be placed into the reference thread beside the resin compatibility thread. It was great that you did this. It will be helpful for many for years to come.

But man, you must have been REALLY bored. :)

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

Wow, very nice of you to do this watch_geek. You covered a lot of ground. You may want to combine records that share the same module, as all of the functions are the same. For instance, the 1545 module is found in a HUGE number of different square models (see WatchShock 1545), as well as the "partially square" DW-5700. Also good to note is that the 3229 module is the successor to the 1545.

Good point -- the chart should probably show BOTH numbers for the DW5660E, since it was (is?) available with BOTH modules!

The earliest DW5600E versions had the 1545 module and there might still be some of them lurking on a few store shelves; the newer ones made after 2011 have the 3229 module. The only difference between the two modules is the pre-programmed calendars: the 1545 calendar only goes to 2039 while the 3229 calendar goes until 2099.

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

Ok, I just updated the table in Post 1. Now have 3 tables instead of just 1. First look up your model in Table 1A & 1B, then look up the module in Table 2. Hope it's helpful with added info and table organization.

Again, if you have any inputs to the information in the tables, post here. Thanks!

Wow! You got a ton of patience my friend. I prefer this three tables that you made.
However you missed some of my favorite squares. First that I searched was my favorite GW-5000 and it was not there. Also missing was the 30th anniversary GW-M5630. If you plan to list other DW-5000s here are some that you forgot to mention: DW-5000LV, DW-5000SL, DW-5000D, DW-5000BL. Also on the GW-5600J, just remove the J on the ending because there are other variants of GW-5600 such as the GW-5600BJ and BCJ (both are negative display). The table will be longer if you enumerate all variants of same watch model. Unless you want to differentiate one from other.

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

If you go to Consumer Electronic Parts and Accessories at PacParts, Inc. you'll see all 17 versions of the G5600 -- two on the last page are "stealthy" with black or blue resin and negative displays.
Keep in mind, the dimensions of the bezel of the older G-5600 '02 is different compared to the newer G-5600 '09.

If you're going to get the G-5600E (the newer one), you should get the bezels made from '09 or later.

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

Just made another round of updates, including:
1) Added more 30th anniversary models, 5500 models, 5000 models (as suggested by Nurse.IT above).
2) Corrected some of the case back descriptions for Titanium models (as suggested by shms59 above).
3) Added more legends and notes, as well as a disclaimer, so that you don't blame me for buying too many squares. Ha ha :-d

holy s....

aren't we glad that you join F17 !!!!!

might I suggest that you use colors on module and features, such as same module number = blue, solar feature = yellow ...
Now you're asking for too much. ;-) I have to say no for that, because there are ones with combination of these features, and could be pretty messy for color coding.

Another thing I want to avoid is to list all color or subtle variations of each model, way too messy to do that in the tables. The tables are giving quite enough info, if not one can always look up Pacparts and Casio manuals for further details.

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

no, I suggested that you use the color on the fonts on the tables for easier reading

ex: on the table of module: 1545

same thing applies to feature world time

of course, it's suggestion ...lolz

Re: 5600 Master Table for Models and Features

Just read that EL was introduced by Casio in 1995, following Timex's introduction in 1992. In fact the DW5600E / Module 1545 was the first Casio watch ever equipped with EL. So all the vintage squares (and rounds) with lights were using microlights. The 491 module for WW5100C and WW5300C is confirmed to have no light, because the use of "Wide Temp LC". So is module 540 for the Junior DW500C, no light. DW5000C with the oldest module 240 here, however, did have a microlight.

Updated table to reflect these facts.
