That happens when the "expert" tries to explain the Seiko 9F from the point of view of mechanical watches... No wonder that the word of thermocompensation or anything similar to it is not to be found in the article. What a waste of time!
I think the aricle is fine, it was a rare review in that it focused and raved about the movement as opposed to the case work like most GS reviews. Sadly the article is over six years old and is still representative of most of the current Seiko HAQ offerings. Contrast that with what the Swiss have done in the last 6 years, the B50, B55, Certina precidrive with Gmt, moonphase, and chrongraph complications.
