Hello
Gangs..

i got this Strap #112 with one idea in Mind ,

that is to Change the Color so it would look like the one i have on the Watch.

i love this Original Combo but i'd like to have the Pilot STYLE Strap on it with some Tail..
Lenght is Ideal and so as the Rivets & the Metal Keeper. but had to do something about them cause they won't go Well with the Blasted Case Finish. so i went from this:

to this by Sand Blasting the Surface to achieve a Matt Finish:

Next up i applied some Mink Oil and and Rub freely on the Surface.

ONLY 1 Coat of Oil on the Strap and 4 Coats on the Keepers ( i like'em Darker ;-) )..
this is my First time i Play with a Strap. so i Hope i won't screw it up. :-s

i let it Dry for a could of days... and Voila :)

i like how it turned out, but comparing it with the Old ? the Color is a bit Lighter but i wanna let it get Darker Naturally .;-)

and a Wrist shot.
Happy with the Tail :)

Thanks for looking
Tony

Now that looks great. I like the darker shade and the sand blasted Rivets. How did you do the rivets?

Tony ol' son, you are a champion.... That is superb mate & the blasted rivets top it off sweetly. That is going to darken beautifully with regular wear.. ;-)

i did in this Thing:

in case you're wondering what it is ??
it's a Sand Blasting Machine Supplied with Air Pressure that i use in my Laboratory...well, actually there's no Sand in it. i use 50 Microns Aluminum Oxide (sounds Fancy ;-)) to get this Matt finish Surface.

Tony, if you don't mind my asking, where do you get mink oil? You've inspired me to doing a little transformation project on my newer Mocca Old Vintage strap to make it look more like the older Mocca Old Vintage straps. Thanks in advance! Cheers!

I've used mink oil on leather goods before, great stuff. I've also used neatsfoot oil, just as common, for my Irish goatskin drum. Very easy to use and super-fine.
