Hello, I've been curious about the history of the Acqua line by Timex. I'm aware that they were mechanical watches around three decades ago and they're now cheap quartz watches made in India. Unfortunately, I can't find when the line was started, what differentiated it from Timex branded watches and what were their most successful models. Anything information simply mentions it being a Timex line, but no further details are provided. Your knowledge will be greatly appreciated. 🙏

I stumbled onto this new old stock Acqua Classic Wind watch and had to get one.

Technically, Timex might have made a wind-up in 1996. But they were not common at all by the time I got into watches in 1992. I know because I used to look at watches every time I walked into any store. I never saw a Timex windup. I bought my first Timex as a kid in 1983 and it was a quartz. I think by 1983 they were pretty much phased out by quartz, since I believe that is when Swatch appeared.

I have a wind-up ACQUA watch from the early 1980's and it Still works to this day, with the date on the right side of the face. It's mainly silver toned, with gold around the face. Also, the face inside is silver. I let my sister wear it for the Longest time, and she accidentally washed it in the washing machine. She let it completely dry out, and it Still works to this day. Hi, my name is Angela, from eastern North Carolina but live in Colorado now. I am wearing it now. I rarely do though. I bought it from Kmart in Tarboro North Carolina where I'm from. The price was I think $12.99, plus tax. I wouldn't trade it for Nothing in this world....I am looking up the value, and to me I think it's worth Way more than what I have found. Have a Great day everyone....I hope this helps out, and if you have one, Keep It! I don't trust any other brand at all...I like mine, and I am keeping it......

Old thread but not a single picture of an Acqua? OK so how about Aegis also made by Timex? How many cheaper brands did Timex need?

Just like the original Timex Indiglo. I love it.
I wonder if there was any real difference between this brand and Tinex in terns of quality. Maybe they were cheaper only because they didn't have Timex logo.

Wow, I stumbled onto the Acqua listing and recalled buying one and sharing it here several years ago. It's been 4 years almost to the day and the seller is still clearing out the last of them. Although, if I correctly recall, there were eighty-something available at the time.
