I prefer it so that my wife wakes up before me. So my cup of tea is ready when I come down to the kitchen!!

The coolest alarm watch I ever saw was worn by James Coburn as Derek Flint in "Our Man Flint" and "In Like Flint". It had a crown shaped like a " T ". The T would pop out and rock back and forth such that the arms (top of T) would press against the forearm waking him up.
Reminds me of the watch that Queen Elizabeth I of England wore. It was mounted in a ring (presumably a rather large ring) and when the alarm was triggered, a tiny needle tapped against her finger.

My Poljot alarm watches vibrate somewhat, and can wake me without disturbing Mrs Chascomm:

Her Poljot however is a 1995 model with the 2-piece back and tunable anvil:

That one has quite a fierce buzz.

Those 'Flint' movies were a lot of fun.

I'm pretty sure Casio also made some watches with vibrating alarms in their Futurist line.
