Hi f71,

I was hoping someone could help me: I'm looking for an analog watch with an alarm. I currently have a "women's" Timex Easy Set Alarm, which I love--but I don't believe it's in production anymore in this size.o| Picture of a similar watch is below (image borrowed from Timex)...

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knows of any other analog watches, either vintage or current. The ones I'm aware of (other than the Timex) are the Seiko Bellmatic and the Momentum/St. Moritz Pathfinder II. By the way, if anyone knows anything about the quality of these two watches, please do tell! I think the absolute maximum size for me would probably be 38mm; I have a small wrist.

Thanks for your help!

Should we differentiate "analog" from "mechanical"? The Seiko Bellmatic was a mechanical alarm. Momentum, Citizen, Timex, Casio-Oceanus all make quartz alarm watches with standard "analog" watch hands (and a few other I assume).

If we talk about mechanical... one that you didn't mention is the family of Russian vintage watches using the Poljot 2612 alarm movement. This was derived from the A. Schild alarm movement in Switzerland that eventually evolved into Jeager LeCoultre's Memovox... except you can often find watches using the 2612 for around $50, and a typical Memovox costs $1000-$10,000. Have a look on the 'Bay.

The Casio Edifice offers the most watch for the money under $200 in my opinion. Those things are practically (and technically) flawless value, if you like their looks. Buying a $50 vintage Russian mechanical alarm watch may satisfy your curiosity for budget vintage mechanicals but it won't satisfy your need for something that's actually trustworthy, shows accurate time and has a dependable alarm. ;) My opinion though. I love Russian watches btw.
