I can understand why you want to import a watch, I have been to Switzerland many times but I have never seen a good deal on watches despite your low tax rates.

 

Oh no,I would want to buy it in Switzerland, however the specific watch is not in the catalogue anymore and they can't get ahold of it here anymore. I do not want to buy online, but feel I don't have any other option anymore. The specific watch was actually much cheaper in Switzerland than the price it went for in the US (at AD). It's an Omega. Yes have used . No probs at all. VAT on import, no customs.

You might benefit from using a shipping forwarder as those sometimes use methods that fly under the radar where taxes are concerned although I dont mean SUI, have no idea about rules there and how it works. By shipping forwarder I mean companies like Shipito.

 

Just called the local post office. Vat/custom's, whatever the hell else, would be around 500 swiss francs for the said watch...

No need to worry about the "precious metal and fakes " clause. This is to prevent fake watches and jewellery from entering your country.

 

Okay okay, I guess it's just the Swiss paranoia. We believe every watch that's not sold on Swiss grounds must be fake, haha.

 

Did you buy the watch at jomashop? What is your experience? I am also located in Switzerland. Thinking about getting a Fortis Cosmonauts Chronograph which is half the price than MSRP in Switzerland!
