I posted this in the Hamilton forum, but thought I should try here as well.

This belongs to a friend. It’s a family watch. Not looking for value, he really just wants to know years/model.

Yes. The watch was given to my friend on that date. The watch was already old by then.

The square case is what's called a 'tank' watch. A style very popular in the 1930s and 40s, and somewhat in the 1950s. So somewhere between 70-80 years old, give or take a year or two.

+1 on the Hamilton Russell. It is 1940. The dial changed in 1941 to a two-toned look.

Also, I real keeper. I collected 40’s era Hamilton’s in the late ‘80s when I had the Emerson, Ardmore and Boulton. I sold them and regret it to this day.
