The only brand I've really seen on Amazon that I know of with confidence are Citizen ( love Citizen watches ) but the others im looking at are all names I've never heard of. I've also seen at times in the past that some of the more expensive watches sell on Amazon but I always wonder if they are fakes or replicas of the originals and not the real deal.
Has anyone purchased a genuinely good quality watch on Amazon irrespective of brand ?
I can officially say the watch here is the worst watch I've ever had, it lost around 15 minutes of time every 4 hours and on the 3rd day of owning it the second hand fell off entirely

My last watch purchase off of Amazon was a Vostok. The other, no name, stuff. Are mainly bulk made Chinese watches. My local pawn is full of them. Funky names that a Chinese to English translater came up with. Crazy stuff like Happy Go Drunk Monkey.

The expensive watches are usually sold by Greys. Not an AD with a price tag a few thousand over going market.

For Amazon, I got a Retrowerk R-012 some time back since I wanted to try something without hands and it also happens to come with a small compass which I needed for work. I won't exactly call it a hidden gem, but it's not bad. Keeps good time & it's quite 'hardy'. I do find some of their Casio models being offered at more attractive prices than other online shopping platforms though.

Stick to the known brands is best advice.

Bulova has some really good deals on Amazon from time to time. Lunar Pilot and Devil Diver to name a couple among many, I'm sure. Purchased a Raymond Weil too a couple of years ago too for my father-in-law for a fantastic price. Colleagues have bought Certina and Junghans as well. Amazon is not just limited to Citizens. Plenty of deals pop up from time to time.

I also see Hamilton and Tissot...including the Powermatic PRX's which are pretty hot models.

You have to search by brand, tho, because they do carry a massive amount of junk. And Amazon's searches are a ROYAL PITA, in my book; their definition of a "match" is ridiculous. (And I do a LOT of shopping on Amazon but they are extremely frustrating at times. Altho Google Shopping isn't a lot better.)

EDIT: also, while you can look...Amazon's prices on watches aren't likely to be anything special. You can do better most of the time.

EDIT 2: I have yet to see anything but junk come up on any of the big sales like Prime Day. Granted I haven't looked a LOT but after 3-4 pages of nothing but fashion junk, continuing to look seemed a complete waste of time.

I have found a few now and then, but you have to watch very closely and often to make sure you are in the right place when one of the vendors drops the price. Usually that only happens for a day or so, but if you can strike at the right time, you can once in a great while get a good deal. Found a couple of Hamiltons, a Omega Chrono, and a great Mido COSC, but I had to watch their site like I was babysitting......

IMHO, this only happens 10% of the time. Otherwise you pay for overpriced, unwhelming watch junk........

Varies from time-to-time. Can't make a general statement. I've bought a Certina there, and also Seiko, Citizen, Casio, and (Casio) G-Shock, all of which are excellent to me. But, I only buy quartz watches < $400. I have nearly 50 of them.

In the OP's question, the word "nice" is perhaps meant to be taken as "prestigious." Probably any watch loses its prestige when it is easily available. It's a category I have no interest in, myself.

Regarding what's "on Amazon," I just checked, and they have Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Tissot, Hamilton, and probably many others. But "on Amazon" sometimes means only that the dealer is using Amazon as a marketplace, not as a place to stock the watch. And there is also a difference between third-party sellers on Amazon, who may or may not use Amazon for fulfillment, and items actually stocked and sold by Amazon itself.

Amazon is just a front end loader to many sellers, a marketing channel which is selected by those who are looking for the most eyeballs to view their products. There are many of them, some have a wider range of product types than others.

There are some pretty decent deals every now and then but you have to weed through all the Chinese junk to get to them. Victorinox and Alpina has some tempting prices on Amazon from time to time. Bulova too but already mentioned

This seems pretty poorly worded.
There are tons of well known watches and brands on Amazon. Are you just talking about the lesser known brands and/or "lower priced" watches?

I haven't checked in a while, but there was a time not too long ago when Amazon had great prices on Laco.

I can't say anything about thoose generics brands of watches from Amazon, but in strap and bracelets i can say that some i bought are really crap, even AliExpress has better things.
