Before Ernie had to return home he managed to slip some expensive watch wear on his wrist. One of these was Hautlence, the Neuchatel independent with such a distinctive look and feel to their watches.

Hautlence's new Destination models come in four finishes, with combinations of a Clous de Paris dial (Destinations 01 and 04) or a honeycomb dial (02 and 03), a black, steel or red gold finish, and titanium or steel cases. The watches run on a Soprod 9351/A10-2 mechanical automatic wind movement. The movement is decorated with circular Côtes de Genève pattern and housed in a rectangular case with bevelled corners. The back of the case reveals the oscillating weight.

The back of the watch helpfully provides the GMT time differences of twelve key international airports for the constant traveller. The watches will be on sale for between CHF 20,000 and CHF 30,000 including VAT.

We won't go into too much detail here, because there will be a full article about this new chronograph from Lugoano based A. Manzoni & Fils next week. These are the first pictures of the watch ever to be taken because the prototype had only just arrived in the nick of time for Baselworld, so you saw it here first. Brand founder and owner Oliver Ike is continuing to produce new contemporary craftsmanship products in addition to the Canopus Weekly Planner watch which literally kickstarted the brand last year. The watch comes in white gold and is limited to 100 pieces.

In addition to the new chrono, Oliver Ike has developed a new Al Shain travel clock, capable of giving you the time in every world destination at just a glance. For example, who would have thought chilly Moscow could be on the same time zone as the sunny Seychelles. The clock is enshrined in heavy duty Swiss granite, (there is also macassar, ebony or eloxan black or white) and the clock is fitted with an in-house 8 day movement. The smooth, cool granite version is heavy, you could practice weightlifting with it. The clock is designed as a tool for those who need to keep in touch with businesses around the world. Each model is limited to 1000 pieces and will retail for CHF 8,000.

Look out for more photographs to come.
