This year Tag Heuer presented few new watches in collaboration with celebrities like David Guetta, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Cara DeLevingne. These are all quartz watches aimed towards the Millennials.

The Monaco V4 Phantom was technically the most impressive of the collection.

The new feature of the 2015 version is found on the case, which is made from CMC (Carbon Matrix Composite) and the 7 bridges of its movement, also in CMC. A specific technique was used to create them in "directed carbon", which means that the carbon fibres are placed in a certain direction in the mould, then micro-blasted, giving them a regular and particularly elegant "matt black vertical brushed" appearance. The entire dial is composed of shades of dark grey and black.

The quartz chronograph movement is accurate to a tenth of a second, displayed on the small counter at 6 o'clock, with the chronograph minute counter at 9 o'clock and the current seconds counter at 3 o'clock; These three small snailed counters contrast with the opaline black dial, giving an impression of speed as they reflect back the light. The case back pays tribute to the TAG Heuer – McLaren partnership in incredible style: it features a profile view engraving of an MP4 from 1985.

Finally, there is new developed chronograph (caliber Heuer 01) for mid-priced (under 5k) which is based on the Seiko ebauche.

The classic collection, discussed in the pre-Basel release, actually was impressive - given the smaller case size and price point.

There is also a "big buzz" about the announcement of smart watch in collaboration with Intel and Google, which we will be revealed later in the year.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Tag and have 3 of them at the moment (and several more in the past), but I prefer the more classic designs. These fancy formula one remind me a little bit of Edifice, although I like several of the new F1 designs and the new case shape. But I have to see them in the flesh to have a more concrete opinion
