Black goes with everything.
I'd be more concerned about the type of watch and the type of strap.

 

I don't think that you can go wrong with a black strap.

It works but i guess the strap and the case need to look good together for it to work, not just colours but shapes too.

Personally, I'd pair a blue-dial watch with a brown or blue strap. I've never been a fan of black straps on blue watches.

 

It's not my favorite look but it's hard to say that it doesn't work. Probably depends a little on the type of watch and your preferences.

I think blue looks best on a bracelet.

I like it. Brown would probably be my first choice. I do prefer a black strap over a blue strap with a blue dial. That much blue doesn’t always work.

 

I have a beautiful blue watch that came on a nice black leather and deployant clasp. I didn't wear it as much until I put it on brown strap. It felt to much like a dress watch on black. The brown strap somehow makes the dial look more blue.

Light blue watch on a light brown strap and dark blue watch on a dark brown stap looks the most balanced to me. I do like blue sport watches on black rubber.

 

I prefer blue strap with blue dial, or a tan to brown strap. Black just clashes, IMHO.

Thanks for all of the input. This is the direction I'm going, but I would generally prefer one with blue stitching IF I could find to match Omega's blue. There are some that are close, but...

I don't think this is bad, but may take a little getting used to. It looks like a lot of blue in the pic, but you obviously don't see it nearly as much when on the wrist.

 

It really depends on the watch (and the case) but usually I find black straps look better than blue straps. However many blue watches look best (in my opinion) with a tan/camel strap.

I have a watch with a black face & blue markings on the face. It has a metal bracelet and I'm considering swapping it out for a black leather strap with blue stitching I saw at Strapsco.

 

I like blue dials with grey straps more than black or blue on blue.

What are my thoughts on blue dial watches with black straps? A black strap is a pretty safe colour for a blue dial watch. However, there are far more interesting options available such as pairing with the right brown, grey and dark blue straps.

 

I think it’s a classic look.
