Hi all, after many years waiting and several auctions lost or skipped, finally I got my dream watch, the Omega Seamaster Professional 300 2220.80. I bought it from a Swedish (my own country) legit auction site, the man that sold the watch buys and sells watches as a hobby. We didn't meet in person and he mailed the watch to me. He has been on the auction site for 2 years and sold several omegas 33 different feedback all positive 4.8/5.

Now I just want to make sure that my watch is legit and not a fake, I really don’t think so I’m 99.9 percent sure that it isn’t fake. I got all 3 red cards (see picture). I’ve made sure to check that the serial number matches on the case (located at one of the lugs) and I’ve also checked the serial number inside the watch under the rotor. They all match on both the chronometer certificate and international warranty. I’ve also checked the Instruction manual its made in December 2008 and the watch is sold in November 2009. What my eye could tell looking up pictures on the internet of the 2500C movement I couldn’t tell any difference on my watch. I used a magnifying loupe to look up numbers and the text inside. I've also taken a picutre of the stamp on the backside of the case.

So what do you all think?

An extra question also: what is the 5 digit number on the international warranty card under the date window?

Thanks in advance

Best Regards //G:)

It's not a reference that's especially familiar to me, but I don't see anything concerning. Given the effort the OP has already put in, maybe the next step should be to take it to an Omega dealer for authentication. I don't know that comments from WUS members are going to offer that much more reassurance. And after 13 years, it could probably benefit from a service anyway.

Great choice and congrats on attaining a long time wish.

On first glance it definitely looks legit to me, but if you want to be sure, you could take it into a dealer.

Cool that the AD was in CDG Airport in Paris. Very James Bond:)

Thank you for your posts.
I went to my (closest 1 hour drive) local Omega AD, they are also an Omega "certified service center", so they don't send the watch but service it themselves fully. Thankfully, the watch was LEGIT and a REAL Omega (yay)
:)

.

But 2 tabs were missing and one screw, so apparently some amature has opened it including me but I didn't do anything else then removing the antimagnetic cover to check the movement and serial number, since the watch weren't pressure tested after the previous owner opened it.
The servicemen (?) at Omega, told me that I needed to be careful due to they didn't have the tabs in stock, so they needed to order it, if I would knock/bang into something there's a big risk the movement gets damaged badly and also not pressure tested.
Last week I went there to get the watch fixed an pressuretested, the watch now have all tabs in place, and don’t need to be serviced for the next two years or so the AD told me. :)

Indeed very bondish especially as the watch is starred in casino Royale :D

Hi,

how much did it cost you? I got 2221.80 quartz model in my hands few weeks ago. Thirst thought were to fast buy and sell, but after few days it attracted me not to sell it so quickly. So I'm wearing it everyday now as my main watch :)

Hi

Good looking watch I see the 2221.80 as a “facelift” of the goldeneye version 2541 😃.
Congratulations on a super good looking watch!

It’s hard to tell how much I paid for it since my currency is very weak today. In todays currency exchange: 3000 usd but of you would ask me 10 years ago it would be about 4900usd.
Best regards

I thought that you bought it not so long time ago. I didn't think that you could ask is it legit after more than 10 years of ownership.
It looks fully legit to me. You are preparing to sell it?
I like 2221.80 because it is just 11.8 mm thick and has quick adjust hour hand. On travels or vacations I many times thought that this function would be very useful. I didn't have this 2221.80 then. I know that 2220.80 doesn't have it. Cal. 8900 movement has it, but SMP has just cal. 8800 movement, so no other SMP has quick set hour hand complication. Or am I wrong?

My bad I did buy it this year just before this thread. I just meant to point out that it’s kinda hard to say how much I did buy it for because of how much the Swedish crown (SEK) has “depreciated” with like 40% in the latest 10 years compared to the usd. So 3000usd may sound like it’s cheap while it’s still the same to money to me in SEK. Hope you understand my point. But I’m todays value 3000usd.

I think you’re correct about the quick hour hand adjustment, I just know that the older 2541 quartz also had it since it the same 1538 quartz movement :)

The question is simple: if you bought it this year, so how much did you pay for it? I'm not asking about 10 year inflation and etc. :)
Yes, all 1538 movements have quick set hour hand function, so in some way these quartz watches are unique compared to the current SMPs. But because of this function movement have no quick set date. So it is like a good function for some, for others it is not needed and bad function. Would be good to know whether it was seen as an improvement by manufacturer or just an inferior feature to quick date setting.

I hear you but I just wanted to emphasize the price can be missleading when a currency is super weak (not only due to inflation).

Anyway it’s a very nice watch either way, quick set hour hand is very useful when travelling or changing from summertime to wintertime and vice versa, at the cost of quick set date. I guess the quick set date is more valuable on the automatic version compared to the quartz due to if you leave it in its box for a longer period of time you need to set date etc, whilst the quartz ticks on and not need to worry about it stopping as frequently therefore the quick set hour hand is very practical 😊

It’s great that the watch is legit! Although from the pictures, I personally would not have been concerned. A few questions:
Two years? Is that how frequently an omega watch needs to be serviced?
How was the accuracy before and after the service?
Do you have experience opening watches? I would be scared to open it up even with the right tools!

Hi 🙂

I totally agree I didn’t think it was fake but just wanted to make sure, since I don’t really keep up with the replica market and their AAA counterfeit watches, some of the is scary close. But then again I was pretty confident it was the real deal.

I think they recommend service every five years and gasket change every two years.

I think the AD based the service recommendation on the timegrapher, the amplitude and beaterror was ok it was tested in all five cosc positions.

(I haven’t serviced the watch due to the AD telling me the watch didn’t need to).

I have opened a few watches before and feel confident doing so but not on a watch this “premium”. I was using extra protection to not make any marks on the case back and used watch tools and good light. I wouldn’t have opened it if it was pressuretested but since the seller hadn’t pressure tested it, I gave it a go. :)

Just my biased opinion but I think the Seamasters from this era are proper classics nearly as much as a Sub is.
