Breitling Aerospace - Time Setting Difficulties; Need Service?

Hello, fellow members:

I need some advice on my most recent acquisition, the Aerospace. This watch hits all my checklists (multiple time zones, thin, light, ana-digi, comfort) and I love this watch. But the one aspect that doesn’t work for me is the time setting.

During the search for this watch, I’ve watched many ‘how to’ videos so I knew about all the modes and the operation. I was excited to try the ‘quick’ turn for changing the hour hand and the ‘slow’ turn for the minute hand.

When I finally received the watch, I just couldn’t perform the quick turn. My hands aren’t at 100% anymore due to something that happened at work, so it’s quite difficult for me to do even the slow turns. I can barely manage to change the minute hand. I do want to note that I’ve never had any issues with setting time on other mechanical/quartz watches.

With the recent DST time change, it took me 5+ minutes to turn the crown enough to go forward an hour, and my hands were in quite a pain afterwards. I even enlisted my wife, but she could not get the quick turn either. So my question to current/former owners of Aerospace…

Would you consider this to be my issue (my hands not able to turn the crown fast enough), or does this sound like a typical issue for a watch needing a service?

Also, I’ve never had a watch with AR coating on the outside before. No matter how often I wipe the Crystal, it keeps looking like this. Does it look like the coating has been compromised?

Thank you for any/all advice.

timely post. I literally just picked up an Aerospace F56062 and have a similar issue. I can turn the minute hand no issue but when i go to fast spin, the hour hand doesn't change. I attributed it to age. It doesn't bother me too much, so i was just going to ignore it. I assume it would be remedied by a service.

From previous conversations on the forum it is apparent that the setting contacts activated by the cam on the stem/crown accumulate contamination/grit/grease over time. This forms an insulating barrier that prevents proper signaling to the processor. An air gap from wear over time is an insulator also. So, either way, the movement needs servicing if it presents with setting problems as described in your posts.

Thank you very much for the help!

I’ve been thinking that it needs a service anyways to check the gaskets and have Breitling deal with the hour hand issue. I will contact Breitling to get the process started.

I hope the pic of the Crystal shows up below.

I may pursue a service, too. Would you mind posting how much they are quoting you?

I have a similar problem with an older Emergency. I really need to spin kind of hard, if I don't spin quicly, just the minute hand moves

I have had a Aerospace for 5+ years. Even when it was new. I was never able to get the quick spin hour function to work. I just had it serviced by Breitling. I still can’t get the quick spin function to move the hour hand. It is a real pain. My experience with Breitling service was less than stellar. Lots of confusion and mix ups on their part. Very poor communication from them to me. I have three Breitling watches, but this experience has turned me off the brand.

That is not awesome to hear. I've not had to service either of mine yet. What exactly did they do when you serviced your aerospace? Did they change out the module?

This is great info as I was considering having my E65062 serviced. However, it's hard to justify $900 for a watch I paid $1100 for.

I've had a lot of trouble getting the hour set / rapid rotation to work. There is a good video referenced in this post that worked for me. Moving the raised crown and using the side of the index figure. Doesn't work 100% of the time but maybe 3 out of every 4 attempts.
