I think I may have found a new watch. I was at a very good watch store this weekend drooling at some fabulous watches. The one that caught my eye was the Breitling Chrono Avenger. I noticed that the pushers are not screw-down, so I am curious about whether they will be problematic if I swim/dive/shower, etc. Any thoughts? FWIW, I was quoted a price of $2500 for it (w/rubber strap).

Hi,
Which version of the CA are we talking about?
One is rated to 300meters and another 1000meters. Both will withstand the odd shower. If you are talking about the M-1, it utilises electro-magnetic pushers that don't pierce the case so it is the only chronograph rated to 1000meters and is not effected by the pushers being activated under water. Other versions of the CA, with mechanical pushers have the rule that the pushers are not to be activated while in contact with water. This is I thing the general rule for all chronographs regardless of brand unless otherwise specifically stated.

It was the one rated to 300m. I really like this one. And I really can't think of a scenario where I would be using the chrono under water. Oh God, I'm starting to get that tingle telling me to buy it.

Now... if I can only convince my wife that I need it. And as she knows I sold two of my three Kobolds it will be very hard to sneak it by her:-d .
