Breva is one of this cool high-end independent brand which pushes the boundaries of mechanical engineering on a timepiece. Breva is about measuring the environment around you so you can not only tell the time, but also atmospheric pressure or measure the altitude and speed.

The Génie 01 has been created in partnership with movement maker, Jean-François Mojon. It is the world’s first wristwatch with barometer for forecasting the weather.

Génie 01’s proprietary caliber, developed for Breva by master watchmaker Jean-François Mojon at “Chronode”, features a patented mechanism consisting of dual aneroid capsules to measure air pressure. The mechanical, manually-wound movement informs the wearer with a small seconds dial, altitude indicator, barometric pressure indicator, power reserve indicator, air pressure equalizer, equalizer seal indicator, barometric scale adjuster, and altitude scale adjuster. The Génie 01’s power reserve is 65 hours, with a blued steel indicator showing the estimated remaining power.

The platinum version is limited to 12 pieces and is priced around $200k.

The Breva Génie 02 Air is a fully functional mechanical altimeter. The dial side of the timepiece is dominated by a sub-dial at 8 o'clock displaying hours and minutes, and the precision altimeter sub-dial at 2 o'clock displaying meters (or feet). Arcing around the top of the dial is the large-scale altitude indicator, which displays up to 5,000 meters (or 16,400 feet), with small seconds below. At 4 o'clock, an indicator is revealed when the air valve is open or closed (it must be open to indicate the altitude). Below is the 65-hour power reserve indicator.

The Génie 02’s aneroid capsules were developed specifically for registering air pressure for altitude readings rather than barometric pressure, and are different from those used on the Génie 01. It is a limited edition of 55 pieces in titanium G5 and is available with calibrations in either meters or feet.

Génie 03, the world’s first-ever wristwatch with a functional speedometer. It is fitted with a patented “instant speed” scientific measurement mechanism, with a proprietary extrusion mechanism that creates a unique look. When extended to indicate the speed, it stands 6mm proud of the watch itself. Within the Titanium G5 extrusion mechanism, comprised of 45 components, are hemispherical special alloy Robinson cups. Its readings are instantaneous and require no calculating on the part of the user, nor does the watch need the user to locate a measured mile or kilometer.

The case is G5 titanium. It is priced around $50k.
