Hi,

I came across this forum and have been hooked by it, it brilliant!

So I have an old watch that used to be my Granddads, but I have no clue about it. Its an old Oris and I am thinking about getting it restored / cleaned up, but I wonder if it is worth it or not? I dont know any details about it and wondered if anyone could help me please?

If your grandfather meant anything to you how could it NOT be worth it? Clean her up and drop onto a nice bund for vintage awesomeness! I'd be interested in seeing the results.

Because it was your Granddad's watch have it cleaned up. I would have it put on a brown leather strap rather than a bund.

I bet it is written stainless steel back on the back. Typical for the 50s, 60s because the case was chromed brass and only the back was stainless steel. Encased is a handwound movement, most likely in-house, possibly a 261 ? Would like to see a pic of the movement.
