I need a watch with a 1 second or 5 second settable timer and like the feature set of the rangeman, so wondering if it could work for me. Anyone know?

Hours and minutes only I'm afraid. Not many G's have that feature anymore, mostly older models like:

G-7700/7710
G-7800
DW-5600
DW-6900
G-2300/2310

Don't know of any modern G's that can do this unfortunately.

The STW-1000 can be set to 5 sec increments. Not a G but a great Casio and unfortunately only Japan release.

Right! Forgot about the STW-1000 - it's a great watch, but I was thinking only G. If you need a flexible timing system including 120 lap timer, plus with a great display including solar and atomic time sync, the STW-1000 is the one to get.

The 1545 module has a CDT that can be set to the single second (e.g. 00:01.30) up to 24 hours. The 3229 module has this too, with the additional benefit of an optional auto repeat. I linked the modules to the WatchShock website so you can see what models have them.

The GD-350 is setable to the second but it lacks a "repeat at end" function for the CDT. To me the dual timers in the G-7700/G7710 series are still the best I have seen in a G-Shock.

cheers
