Carlos was retained in Japan but it seems he has found the time to buy a Square on a nylon strap... A JDM?
This guy is rich at millions.
Anyway for his press call yesterday in Lebanon, after he has escaped from the Empire of the Rising Sun, he got his G proudly on his wrist.
Secret message or lucky charm from his evasion?
Or...
Eventually he loves Japan! [emoji23][emoji627][emoji106]

When you're jumping bail, fleeing a country, escaping in a box and leaving on a (private) jet plane, timing is of the greatest importance hence a casio. Seems even a rich guy can see the merit of an inexpensive quartz watch for accurate timekeeping. Guess all the fancy windy uppy expensive watches are best used for dominance displays and stem measuring contests

It looks like a DW5600BBN. It's not just any G-Shock. Here is what casio has to say about it:

"The monotone coloring of this watch give it a bold and powerful look that is suitable for any situation where the going might get tough."

"CORDURA[emoji2400] fabrics are woven from fibres characterized by extraordinary strength and durablity.
They are frequently used in outdoor gear and luggage, items that require particularly high levels of durability."

Poor Carlos doesn't yet realize it's a tracking device planted in his holding cell by the Japanese government.

Wow, this guy is talented, could answer the press in multiple languages without even translators. I hope he will get his justice.

The square he's wearing, pretty sure it's a DW5600 variant by how far the buttons are apart. It's positive LCD too as I can tell. Unfortunately, it's not clear enough to see the details on the watch dial, so can't ID the exact model number.

Didn't he use some ex-SAS hostage rescuer dude for his escape - maybe this was a present from that guy :)
Bloomberg had a story on his escape. It's pretty unremarkable actually.

He waited till New Years 'cause that's the one time the Japanese slack off and enjoy themselves a bit and he knew the folks watching his house might take a few hours off. He then walked out his front door, got on a train, took it to a hotel next to the airport, then hid in a box that was loaded onto a private jet and flew away. The box was too big to go through the x-ray machine, and apparently no one bothered to open it up. A former Green Beret helped arrange it all.

As far as him 'getting justice' - does anyone actually think he's innocent? Serious question, I don't know much about the case.

Before this whole saga I didn't realize that Japanese prosecutors have a 99+% success rate in their cases. DAMN!!!

So, we can now name it a Ghosn-Shock ?
I can see it now. The Ghosn-Shock limited edition square. Instead of a brick pattern on the dial, it is a jail cell pattern. The backlight shows the outline of a Nissan Sentra. :-d

Maybe he started wearing that Casio because wearing his $200,000 Patek Phillipe or Rolex (Seen in other recent photo's) would not be conducive to favorable action when going in front of the Judge to defend against 16.6 million dollars accused in financial fraud. Especially considering his claim the volatility of the Yen and crash of the Stock Market and devaluation of Nissan stock caused him to not even have enough money to cover his liabilities and he legally had to borrow the money for collateral to back it up.

I'm broke your honor, everything I did was legal and approved.
Arent you wearing a Patek Phillipe?
Nope, cant afford one. Casio. Thirty Four dollars.

From my understanding Japanese Judges do not look too kindly on people accused of financial fraud (period) showing up to court in $2000 suits wearing 1/4 million dollar watches.
