I can only find a few posts on these Casio watches but they seem to be well regarded by some reviewers. Are they seen as cheap department store watches? Not that it bothers me!

I've been looking at the EVF-100D but cannot find much love on here for it. Looks great, functional, smart every day watch. Similar looks to the well regarded Seikos but obviously quartz.

Show me yours!

Excellent watches. Robust, reliable, accurate, bargain priced, don't hesitate if you find one you like.

EF-503, there are at least 7 versions......here are some of them:

These are great, I don't understand why they are disregarded generally over others. I love a Quartz and these have great finish and function compared to most!

They're definitely overlooked. I think I kind of disregard them because I associate Casio with digital and cheaper watches (which I love). If Casio is asking $80+ for something that is not a fancy G-Shock or something, I think a lot of watch enthusiasts would rather just go Seiko or Orient or Citizen.

I also find most of the Edifice watches a bit busy, big, and blingy. Probably why they are popular in retail stores. Though there are gems, that panda is nice and I saw an Explorer-ish piece that was very handsome for the price.

Exactly my point. I'd like to see the Explorer alike! I know what you mean about size but the piece in my original post is also available smaller as the EVF110D, catering for all wrist sizes!

I think my recent Duro purchase has opened me up a bit that a decent watch doesn't need to be automatic, as long as the form and finish is good why not?

I'm a big fan of this trade I got. Put it on a black Luff Nato. Thanks Wolfsatz!

Have a look at the casio oceanus watches, from 500 and up. Talk about expensive casios. But still fantastic value for money.

My 2 cents? The Edifice series is fantastic in its price range. Casio makes great products that stand the test of time and these are their middle tier (you wouldn't believe how expensive some Casio's are at the high JDM end). In my experience the build quality is usually at the level of Seiko's 1-3 hundred dollars more.

They have a new slim line. There's a Solar Bluetooth chrono. A regular chrono. And a plain three hand. The Solar Bluetooth chrono and regular chrono are about 44mm (I hate that Casio lists the dimensions with the crown) and have 22mm lugs. The Solar Bluetooth chrono is 8.9mm thick and the regular chrono is 9.5mm thick.

But I went with the three-hand. First, it's smaller at 42mm w/20mm lugs. Second, the minute hand isn't stumpy on this one. Third, it's the thinnest at 8.3mm. And finally, it's under a $100.

With all of them, you get sapphire, a cool flat bezel with vertical brushing and a sweet vertical grain pattern on the dial. (There's another argument for the three-hand - you don't have subdials obscuring that dial grain.)

Anyone in Canada spot one of the simpler looking Edifices? I've checked Walmart, The Bay, online, and a few other places and don't see it anywhere or any of the Casios with a leather strap from the MTP series.
Generally more choices and lower prices online.
