I got this Casio F-94WA-9 watch from the bay some days ago and wanted to make a mini review for you guys.
This is my first real review and I toke all the photos from my old iPhone 5, so sorry for the bad quality.
English is not my native language, hope is allright.

First the specs:

  • Case / bezel material: Resin
  • Resin Band
  • Resin Glass
  • Water Resistant

  • Light
  • 1/100-second stopwatch
    Measuring capacity: 59'59.99''
  • Daily alarm
  • Hourly time signal
  • Auto-calendar (28 days for February)
  • Regular timekeeping: Hour, minutes, seconds, pm, day, date
  • Accuracy: ±30 seconds per month
  • Approx. battery life: 7 years on CR2016
  • Size of case : 38.2Ă—33.2Ă—8.5mm
  • Total weight : 21g

The watch is quiet small, but I have a very thin wrist so it looks ok on me.
The band is kind of soft and goes around the wrist and its very comfortable.
Super light weight, you will almost forgot that you wear it.
I like the discrete retro look, black face with a little yellow. Not screaming like many other digital watch, such G-shocks.
The digital numbers are very clear and readable. It haw the basic functions, shows time, day, date, alarm and stopwatch.
The light is not the brightest, but in a dark place it sure can tell the time.
If you press down all 3 buttons it will show all the possible sign.
Hold the right button for more than 3 seconds will show CA51o.

I don´t know if it´s only on my watch, the tag shows module 1071 but the case back 593.
Maybe Casio changed it because you can´t download the manual for 1071 from their site anymore.
But this watch feels very genuine to me.

All and all, I´m very satisfied with this watch.
I got it only for $6.75, but it had a small dust inside the glass. I just opened it my self and cleaned it and saved some bucks.
To change the battery you need to take out the whole module, it can be little tricky to put it back.
When you open it, make sure to take a photo on the plastic seal so you remember how to put it back.
If not installed correctly the buttons will get stuck or will not "bounce" back like it should be.
Luckily the battery should last 7 years, so you don´t often need to do this.

I think this is a perfect watch for training or traveling, it will not draw attention for robbery.
If you break it, just buy a new one.

All button pressed. Just press any button to return to the normal mode.

Hold down the right button for more than 3 seconds.

Case back.

Press down upper left button for light.

I've had one of these for several years. Don't remember where I got it, but it was cheap and functional, and I've grown to like it more. They don't seem to be all too common here in the US. I agree, it's probably on the small side, like the average module 593 watch. I never took a shine to the larger manly watches, so it suits me well. As you can see, I don't baby my watches, they get their share of knocks and bumps. Wouldn't mind hunting down another.

Since it was so cheap, I made a little experiment. I bought cheap polarized filter for iphone and moded the watch display to negative.
The polarized filter have the sticky side on the "wrong" side, so I attached it to the crystal instead of on the module it self.
If you have OCD, don´t do it, you need to find a proper filter with the sticky surface on the right side.
I didnt want to spend a lot of cash for the correct filter to mod a cheap watch.
It disturb me a bit, but it´s ok. I can always change it back to normal again and attach the filter on the module instead.
Now when its negative, its more clear when you push the led button when its dark.

Update to the review. I might have bought a fake one. Not important it shows CA5Io when holding the right button.
I discovered this today when the buckle loosened from the pin.
I compared this watchbuckle and pin with 3 other Casio watches, that I know 100% are genuine.
The genuine buckle is more smooth and the pin is bigger and will not come off easy. (the left one)
I bought it from a bay seller named dealsland_15.

Why would anyone sell a fake ~$7 Casio?!
The seller dealsland_15 is from sri lanka, they normally would not have real Casio watches from Japan over there.

Beware when buying watches from dealsland_15 on eBay.

That would be the first time I see a fake one able to display "CASIo"

This is certainly curious. Have you opened it ? maybe a pic of module can help us decide ?

I did initially think the case-back engraving/stamping looked a bit rough, but then saw the "CASIo"....

forums.watchuseek.com/f17/my-casio-f-91w-real-fake-3573554.html

This is an older thread where I posted some evidence.Based on the case-back pics of an F94 in that thread, the module number on your case is wrong.

Unless, as I said, there are other/older versions of the watch I am not familiar with, and that is possible.Let us see if someone else has an answer to this.

(edit>>593 is indeed module code for F91w)

Apologies, you have opened it,obviously ( :) sorry I'm a bit slow this morning ) .Maybe you could again for a pic of module ?

As you will see in the thread I referenced, the tag indicated the F94 module for an F91.

In your case, the tag seems correct ,but F91 module number is indicated on the back.

This situation is not looking good to me...

Hi,

I can open it later for you. I compared the buckle and the pin with 2 Casio F-106 and 2 vintage FS-10 watch, all of them have same buckle and they are all very smooth and the pin is larger. (where the pin goes in, the "crater" is round and smooth)

Maybe I found a new way to spot fake Casio watches. :)
Lucky my F-94WA-9 was very cheap and the watch works, I can always buy a replacement strap. (of course the idea that it might be a fake does bother me)

Please all of you that have a genuine F-91W, F-94WA-9 or some cheap Casios, please look at the buckle and the pin and
confirm for us if my theory is wrong or not.

Very interesting. I was curious, so I bought two watches from that vendor, an F-91W, and F-94WA-9. The thing that caught my eye immediately was how the buttons protrude notably more than on the F-91W and F- 94WA-9, which looked curious to me. I addition to the suspicious stamping on the back plate that, looks legit at first, but less so when compared with the F-91W and F-94WA-9 purchased from established vendors. Another red flag was when removed the strap on the F-91W, and found that the like other F-91Ws, it has a pin rather than a spring bar. However, the pin was unlike the solid, pointed on one end type pins I've seen on real Casios. Instead, it was a split pin, the kind resembling somewhat a tiny cotter pin, slightly bulbous on one end to maintain the friction fit. Finally, another curious characteristic about these mystery Casios: I have several digital watches hanging above my desk, including four low end real Casios, a W201-1AV, a F-91W, and two F-91Ws. Just out of curiosity, I set them all to my phone time, and set them to beep on the hour. It became evident quickly that the two mystery Casios were losing time at a rapid rate. After a week, they've both lost about 30 seconds, compared with the real Casios, which are all within five seconds of the phone. I haven't opened them up to compare the internals. But they are very curious indeed.

Thanks Dragon. Before I commit to a decision, I will open some of my similar models and also take pics. Other members here will probably have pics to share, and

will hopefully join the discussion. It would be interesting to compare......watch this space :)

I reported the watch and seller a while ago but the seller still put up more fake watches for sale, I am not hopeful that eBay will do something. Perhaps if more people keep on reporting him? The seller dealsland_15 is pretty low for selling < $10 fake watches on eBay. What a low-life.

I read through this whole thread and i would like to add to your speculation that this is indeed a fake. Two indicators that popped up to me are 1. the screws in the caseback authentic casios with the 395 Modules have smaller finer philips screws that are slotted to fit a flat head screwdriver. 2. in the test mode where all the segments on the LCD show up on the area where they day/date shows up it has one extra segment on the upper left corner.

would love to hear all your feedback on my findings!

This has been spotted before on a definitely-fake F91, so I think you're right:

(Apologies everyone for the thread necromancy, I was looking to see if there were fake F94s going around and it turns out: of course there are. Everything is terrible.)

Hi all - only one other consideration on the authenticity debate, which is that to my eye there are some noticeable differences even on the markings of the face of the fake versus the real deal (font, spacing, etc).

In any case, I have an F-94W (which I think is a good'un), and I love it as a cheap beater watch. I think the yellow and black, combined with the simplicity of the markings relative to other models, gives this one a more 'retro' feel than, say, the F-91W.
