I get all the various branding names used by Casio: G-Shock, Lineage, Edifice, Oceanus, Sheen - but what is "Funk" all about?

I know some of the Lineage models I've seen or got, are often named "Casio Funk" on places like Amazon.

For a moment, I thought you were in a funk about CASIO... meaning nothing they were making was really exciting you to get a new model.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think "funk" is German for radio, as in "funkuhr" - radio-clock, or "Telefunken" the electronics manufacturer.

Mind you, I like the idea of a Casio Funk series - they could kick off with the James Brown Signature edition, the Sly Stone and Family of watches...

Get on down, ah! Get on up!
