I saw this on a Japanese auction site yesterday.

Do you think they used a pale yellow or a pale yellow green filter to alter the display colour?

Sorry I have no idea. But while I was OK with opening my DW-8140/50/60 watches because they needed battery replacements, now all I have is 2 Kings and 4 Frogs and since they are all solar I'm never planning to open any of them. So whether it's justified or not personally I wouldn't buy an expensive watch like this that has been opened. I'm sure some of my earlier watches 'steamed' up whilst skiing etc. because I had them open at some point though to be fair this is really a guess.

The display color can also change by applying polarized light or filters on the camera lens. No real need to put a filter between the cystal and the display.
