Breitling has unveiled the Chronomat GMT Breitling Jet Team American Tour limited edition timepiece in recognition of the Breitling Jet Team’s first ever North American tour. The watch is a limited edition of 250 pieces, housed in a sleek black-steel case with an onyx black dial, and stand out yellow accents, which mirror the colors of the Breitling Jet Team’s fleet of L-39 C Albatros Jets.

The world-famous Jet Team have toured North America and are known for their precision flying and breathtaking performances. This aerobatic display team is the largest of its kind; comprising seven L-39 C Albatros jets that can reach speeds of up to 565 mph and 8G acceleration.

“The Breitling Jet Team has enjoyed such a successful North American Tour this year and the first Jet Team timepiece was so popular, that we decided to do another version in the Chronomat GMT style as well. As the Jet Team concludes the final leg of their American Tour with performances all around the U.S. and Canada in September and October, we wanted to introduce this unique timepiece so that crowds all around North American can enjoy.” Breitling USA President Thierry Prissert.

The Breitling Chronomat GMT Jet Team North American Tour timepiece features the Breitling Jet Team logo on the dial, while the caseback features the Breitling Jet Team American Tour logo in vibrant color with the limited edition numbering. The Chronomat GMT features the Manufacture Breitling Caliber B04, a 47 mm diameter case, and a crown-adjustable second time zone system. Each watch will be accompanied by a limited edition commemorative Breitling Jet Team American Tour coin.

“The Breitling Jet Team has had an amazing North American Tour. We are thrilled that we are coming back in 2016. This year we had some incredible flights: the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, and Niagara Falls. It is very exciting to see what next year will hold.” Breitling Jet Team Leader Jacques Bothelin.

The Breitling Jet Team American tour, which spanned airshows throughout the U.S. and Canada in 2015, will conclude at the Miramar Air Show and Wings Over Houston this year. The 2016 North American Tour will be announced later this year.

Breitling has deep rooted ties to aviation that have spanned the brand’s history. Notably, Breitling equipped WWII propeller-driven fighter planes cockpits with on-board chronographs for the Royal Air Force in the 1930’s. In 1952, they launched the legendary Navitimer wrist chronograph featuring a circular slide rule, which could perform all navigation-related calculation and has been continuously manufactured for over 60 years – the world’s oldest and most iconic mechanical chronograph still in production.

Additionally, Breitling enjoys longstanding collaborations with some of the world’s greatest flight teams, including the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, as well as the famous Frecce Tricolori Italian elite flight team, for whom Breitling developed the original Chronomat in 1984.
