I've been eyeing this Citizen diver as my next possible watch purchase, but I have heard nothing but bad things about the stock strap. My preference would be to get an aftermarket rubber bracelet to put on it, but I have heard that finding bracelets that fit this model is a bit of a nightmare. (without modding) So, my question comes down to this:

Are there any bracelets (preferably rubber) that can be used on this watch straight out of the box?

Here is an example of the type of strap I would consider my 1st choice.

Here is a link to the watch on Amazon

Thanks for your help!

Why would finding bracelets that fit this model be a nightmare? Looks like a standard 20mm lug width to me-- the most common strap/bracelet width for a man's watch.
Honestly, I'd ditch the rubber and put it on shark mesh-- it's all the rage!:-d

I don't know where I read that it was such a pain to fit straps onto, but I'm glad to hear its a non-issue. I'll be ordering this baby up tonight then!
The problem is not finding a strap to fit the watch, it's finding a metal bracelet with the proper end links that fit.
The watch would look great on an Oyster bracelet, but you would have to modify the end links as per this post:
https://www.watchuseek.com/f21/finally-oyster-bracelet-my-bn0000-04h-fits-perfectly-629482.html and it's a lot of work.
Hope this helps.
@eskerbillion, still love your shark mesh bracelet but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm leaning towards the Omega Ends variant.

I have the BN0000-04H and I did not care for the stock strap. I put a Hirsch Pure strap on it (Hirsch Pure Black Rubber or also at Hirsch Pure) and the only "issue" was that the thicker spring bars that came on the watch didn't fit as easily into the holes on the Hirsch. Luckily, Freda sent smaller diameter spring bars to go with it (as well as a mini spring bar tool) and they worked perfectly.

I've also used 20mm Nato and Zulu straps on it and they fit great as well (using the stock spring bars that came with the watch).

I think you will be fine as long as you get a 20mm strap and I would be very surprised if you had any trouble putting a 20mm strap on it.

Hi NativeTxn,

Do you have any pictures of your BN0000-04H on the Hirsch Pure Black Rubber? Would like to see how that looks.

Thanks much,

Ted

Sure thing. Here are some - not the best pics, but should give you an idea of how it looks...

Thanks, looks good! Is that strap longer than the stock strap? The only problem I really had with the stock strap was that it was a bit short for me. There wasn't much excess strap left (8.25" wrist) so the tail of the strap kept popping out of the keepers.

Thanks - I like it and agree that it looks pretty good. I've contemplated trying an Isofrane, but I think this will do for now, as it is soft and pliable, but stays in place pretty well, and it is quite comfortable (for me, MUCH more comfortable than the stock strap).

As for the length, I do not know for sure how it compares to the stock strap - I will try to remember to check when I get back to town Sunday night.

But, I have very small wrists (~6.4 inches) so I am on the last hole and it actually fits very well. There are a total of 8 holes for what that's worth.

Hirsch have added MEDIUM and XLONG to the length options available to the Pure in Black, the XLONG offers an extra 20mm, coming in at 120/100mm excluding the buckle, should cure the "tail popping" issue !!

i had held a BN0000-04 before but couldn't remember how the rubber felt in comparison to the NY0040 divers... if they are the same (maybe someone can confirm) then i think the stock rubber is OK! at least better than the Z20s of seikos...:-!

if you want a really nice rubber strap and wouldn't mind spending, then it's a no brainer... ISOFRANEs FTW!!!! :-!

otherwise, lots of 20mm rubber straps out there....;-)

good luck on the hunt and congrats in advance to the piece!:)

So as you can hopefully see when comparing the stock strap (left) to the Hirsch Pure (right), the short end is the same length. However, the long side of the stock strap is longer, has 11 holes instead of 8 on the Hirsch, and the holes cover a longer range.

Thank you. That's quite a difference in length. I'd definitely need the XL. Might just get an Isofrane later on down the road. It would look great on my blue Sumo as well.

In our experience the Long length, 120 & 80mm excluding the buckle, fits the majority of wrists, we sell 90% of Hirsch straps in this length with a small proportion in Medium or X Long.

A couple pictures on maratac NATO for your consideration. I couldn't be happier with this strap choice.
