Hi, my name is 31 Jewels and i am a master watchmaker located 80 miles north of Lancaster Pa. You may have seen my other service and restorations here in the Citizen/Seiko forums before of the 8110a 23 jewel mechanical chronographs. I have been collecting the 8110a models for years now and i have mentioned that my favorite model is the 67-9054. I have never owned, serviced or restored a Bull Head model before and this is the first time i have gotten the chance to have one in my shop. Actually 2. This thread is devoted to the restoration and service of 2 different 1970s era Citizen Bull heads. The watch pictured here is owned by Vsansbajo. He started the "Citizen 8110a High End Thread" here in the forums last year and has asked me to service and restore one of his personal watches. This Bull Head pictured here was purchased new by his Uncle in Spain in the early 1970s. Heirloom work is something i specialize in and really enjoy that aspect of my job. Finding out the history of the watches and their stories of the past. Stay tuned 31

Jewels,

I have a Citizen 8110 (67-9119) that needs some work. Along with the two push buttons and centered crown, it has the crown at 10 o'clock just like what Quang posted in #50. I'd like to send it to you for an estimate if possible. Please let me know what you think!

Hi, please send a PM to me with pictures if possible. 31
Bob, a sharpi works great. You might see it with the eye if your looking for it. The chipping part is where the jurys still out.
An interesting thing i've learned with these watches, and the other 8110a models ive worked on, is some have metal movement holders and some have plastic.
The metal ones work way better and are actually held in by screws and clamps where the plastic one just snaps on.
The plastic ones don't hold the movement in the case nearly as securely as the metal ones, and as a result the dial will move and the inner bezel will rub the paint off of it. 31
Screws and clamps? Mines got a metal movement holder, but its only put into place. Theres nothing holding it in, and the movement is quite loose inside it.

And PM sent about a service for mine.
See page 3, thread #30 of my Citizen 67-9151 8110a resto. This movement holder topic relates and you might find it interesting. 31
Hi 31 jewels how do you remove the glass from citizen 8110 and my watchs secound hand is lose every time I use flyback it never goes back to zero.
If you've got a suction cup, its possible to suck of the glass. Or remove the movement and you can push out the crystal.

It sounds like that hand wasn't placed at 12 o'clock at neutral. Remove it, then set the watch to neutral. Then place the hand back at 12 o'clock. If that doesn't work, then your hand is loose.

Are your referring to the Bull Head? To answer your other question is remove the flyback lever, and then check the hand tube and see thats its not cracked. If its ok, then re set and re index the hand, and you should be good. Hope that helps. 31

Sorry to resurrect a very old thread but I had a question. I just picked up a Citizen bullhead chrono that's running extremely well except the hour sub-dial hand doesn't seem to be working. The minutes work fine and the seconds also works well and flies back. The watch is also keeping excellent time. Is this something that can possibly be fixed easily or would it have to be repaired professionally?

I love the watch. The movement is original as well as the case, pushers and, supposedly the crystal. I know the dial and hands are after-market.

Jason, Pm sent to you. Sorry that you bought one that does not work properly. I'll do what I can to help you. Its been a while since I've been here. This thread gets about 800-1000 views a month and I thank you for the inquire. 31

Thank you for the props. Almost 20,000 views. I couldnt be more thrilled.
Have you tried to pull the crown out (1) click, and then push the reset pusher?
If that does not work than something is broken or missing in the movement.

Hope that helps......

Hi 31J,

First of all: great project followed with pictures! Big up!
I have a few questions for you.
Could you tell me what is the lug size please?
What happened with the 67-9054 caseback idea? Didn't fit? I would love to see this movement in action but don't want to remove the caseback every time :)
Mine is under delivery, just grabbed one at ebay - so that is why I don't know the lug size :)
Hi. Thank you for the props. Lug width is 18mm.

Forum members have been asking me to make clear case backs for a long time.
I just never got around to making them.......untill now.
I have decided to start production. I'll start a thread for it, so stay tuned.

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
I am tuned for that thread. If you start that production, I'm interesed to buy one.
Hi recently got a Citizen Bullhead. Very minor query. The hours sub dial hand doesn't reset. However it seems to be keeping track of hours elapsed. Is there any quick fix for this?

Thanks.

No..not really. The movement would have to taken apart to find out why.

View attachment 701438 This is V's dial after repair of the dials outer edge. What i like about his dial is the sub dials have faded to a almost chocolate color. Short of the edge and lume repair on the 2 and the 4 hour markers, its pristine and ready for the movement and hands.
Hi 31!

I know it an old thread, but maybe you still following:) May I ask what equipment did you use to restore the outer black edge of the dial?

Many thanks, Looking forward:

Balint.
View attachment 692096 This is the calendar side of my 8110a. I noticed on the first inspection that the calendar was sticking from 28-5. This pic captures the reason. If you look on the outer edge you will see grease there. I didnt shoot a pic after i removed it but there was thick green oil completely under the whole calendar wheel that looked the same as the above movement pics. No wonder it wouldnt turn right and change the date correctly. Next stop, the ultrasonic cleaner 31
Does the calendar dial always have Kanji and English for the days? I just bought one and it's in the mail. However, it indicated Kanji.

Also is one able to put sapphire crystal on? Thx

Hi. The calendar wheels come in many different languages. If you have a kanji wheel then you should have English also.

Sapphire crystals are so expensive most people opt out. I have not tried fitting one to a Bull. If yours has the OE Citizen gasket it will make things much easier to spec one. Is yours stainless or nickel?
