Countdown bezel chronos

Hello all,

now that I went solo the first time :-! and with the PPL "en route" (okay, that might take another six months ), I started the search for "my" pilot watch. Since I will use it for navigation during VFR flights, I would like to find a chrono with countdown bezel.

Which seems to be not too easy... for example, a few years ago Sinn offered the 103 with countdown bezel, but the actual collection shows only "normal" bezels.

So please Watchusseek, pimp my- oops... help me with some suggestions!
Merci!

If I look at the collection on Sinn's website, I still see mostly countdown bezel's on the different 103 models. According to a post from Crusader some time ago, the 757 was also available with countdown bezel. I'd be very surprised if Sinn stopped providing countdown bezels. Maybe Crusader can confirm.
Here's the most basic version of the 103 with countdown bezel. It's a classic! Picture from the Sinn website.

Countdown bezels are great - one of my favorite features of aviation watches, though I don't currently own a watch with one! As Ron says - as far as I know, all but one of the Sinn 103 range of watches features a countdown bezel.

Chronomaster in the UK are official dealers for Sinn, also.

And Congratulations on your first solo! A great feeling.

 have to check my glasses - or did I mix it up with the catalogue? I don't know... o| Okay, so then Sinn is no problem - what about any other?

And Congratulations on your first solo!
:thanks

Absolutely!!! I guess the whole airfield could hear me yelling "Yiiieeehaa!!!" while rotating...:-d
How about this?

The He-162 Salamander is optional.:-d

Sinn 756 UTC is available with both count-up and count-down bezel.

The ideal pilot's chrono, I'd say, what with the antimagnetic protection and the hardened case. ;-)

756 with bezel? Would that be the 757  ?

Yes, of course you are right. My fault - old habits (or model numbers) die hard ... :)
Breitling has the Skyracer. Breitling also has the Chronomat line (and others) that have engraved minute hash marks all the way around, and "rider tabs" at 15, 30, and 45. I've heard that these are easily removeable with a screw and all you need to do is switch the 15 and 45 to go from count-up to count-down.
There's also the Tutima FX Chronograph...

That's a great watch - packed with useful features, a rugged and desirable movement, modern technology and with a nice, clear presentation for a reasonable price too, I think. :-!
You might like this one...

Discontinued a couple of years ago but still available pre-owned and sometimes NOS at an AD. ;-) :)
Cheers,
Ron

My favorite chrono and bezel. Great to use as an extra 12 hour timezone.

Sorry no - according to Sinn's customer service (just received the mail) a countdown- bezel for the 757 is not possible... too bad.

That one I like... haven't seen this varianta on their webpage before - probably a bit small with 38,5mm diametre.

Now THAT's what I'm looking for! What a beauty! Lemania! Got to find me one of those... :-!

And the B-1 is always worth a thought ;-)

While searching this forum for further input, I stumbled over Kobold - anybody who knows them? Is a watch like the Phantom really worth ~5k$? I mean, it's "only" a Valjoux 7750 (no offense her).

Thanks everyone for your ideas - and bring in more :p

:-s Having seen the 757 countdown bezel myself, I know it does exist ... if you are interested in this variant and care to forward the mail to my e-mail address at Lobebaer&gmail.com , I'll be happy to double check with Sinn directly.

I know that it is not the preferred choice of Sinn customers (the elapsed-time bezel is), but I have seen it with my own eyes ... :-(
Kobold has a great product, and I was a huge fan when they were a small factory-direct outfit on the internet only, selling great watches at half the competitor's prices.
Now they've gone the other way, trying to buy "exclusivity" by jacking their prices through the roof. I'm not a fan anymore.
I have never seen a countdown timer bezel. Do most watches have that as an option? Next question, which might be stupid, but how excatly does it work???

You set the triangle to the time you want to hit, and the bezel tells you how much time is left until then.

The chronograph measures elapsed time, by definition, and the countdown-bezel indicates time remaining.

Few watches have them. ;-)

So if i wanted to countdown 10mins i would move the triangle to the ten on the dial or to the minute hand??
