I bought the DA36. I usually like indicies better but hate red so that was an easy choice. The 36 is a fantastic watch. I don't think you would be unhappy either way you went. I would do a 36 again if I had to choose

All markers is more versatile. Just simply looks simpler and more elegant. If you're trying to fit a pilot watch into absolutely every possible environment, (and insisting on a Damasko), the 34 is the way to go.

If we're allowed to give less-helpful replies: Neither. The bezel with the DA4x series dramatically improves both the usefulness and, in my opinion, the looks of the DA series.

Between the markers-only DA44 and Arabic-numerals DA46: I've owned both and prefer the DA44. The markers-only look is much cleaner and less cluttered, and also better in low light: Damasko applies lume to the entire markers on markers-only dials, while the Arabic dials only get little dots next to them. (I assume the same applies to DA34 vs. DA36.)

Also, don't let color choices turn you off to entire models. If you order through WatchMann, you can get custom color combinations as long as Damasko has the needed parts from other models, like a DA46 with the red pip and red seconds hand from the DA44.

Voted for the da 36 only because the 34 looks too much like the da 44 which I too am wearing. If it was a choice between a DA 3x with a bracelet vs a DA 4x without the bracelet, I'd still go for the bezel.

My vote is for the DA 36 for these reasons:
Arabic numerals
Traditional triangle at 12
Yellow seconds hand
I receive a lot of compliments on my DA 36 :)

In any case, regardless of choice, I am not a fan of the Damasko "matchy-matchy" bi-colored straps. They look too gimmicky to me.

I'm a fan of the Arabic numerals so the DA36 would speak more to me. That said, I'd prefer a different color than yellow on the hand.
Many people seem to want a different color, but the red DA 34 is just as "loud" as the yellow DA 36, imo.

I am curious as to why the "more quiet" blue seconds-hand DA 38 is not among the OP's options.

I've owned at least three, maybe four, DA 36s--I like Arabic numerals, I like the overall look of the watch, and I like the fact that the yellow hand separates the watch from the rest of a whole lot of very similar "tool" watches on the market today. I sold each one of them because in the end the yellow hand was just a bit too singularly odd--nothing else drew on that in the design, no other elements on the dial tied into it, so it just turned out to be a rather bulky watch which I think other watches did better, in a slightly less bulky case (some of the Sinns, for example). That said, I am partial to red accents, and though I prefer numerals, I like the unique look of the DA 34, and am looking to buy one myself sometime soon--thus, while both are very similar (same case, similar dial), I would take the DA 34--and no way on the other models folks have suggested with rotating bezels--if I wanted a diver, I'd get a Sub.

It was a hard choice between the 36 and the 38. The hard and soft color difference of just one hand changes the look of the watch entirely. In my eyes, it is a tool watch and the bright yellow just works...but that blue....

I agree.

The blue is pretty nice, but I still prefer the DA 36 yellow. I bought mine before the DA 38 was available, but I don't think I would change. The thing about these colored hands is that 99% of the time they are photographed static; I think that in motion the yellow looks really great, and I think adds a bit more "oomph" than the blue would. Plus, the DA 36 is the "original". I'll save blue (true blued steel) hands for a marine watch. :)

I'm partial between DA34 and DA36, I like the red accent on 34 better than the yellow/neon green second hand on DA36. But generally I prefer numeral to stick indices.
But gosh...that DA44 is really a stunning watch!

My post on the same thread in the Damasko Forum: I owned a 36 and a 363 as well as a 46 black. I sold them all. Love the yellow second hand but the boldness of the numbers did each in eventually. I bought a 34 a month ago and realize that while its very toolish, it's much more versatile than the 36. I like it much more than the 36 and am looking for a bracelet 2nd hand. Either way, they're both Great, indestructible watches.
