Damasko DA44 or DA46 or ??? for Second Time Zone--Pics Please!

Hi Folks,

I have a DA36 which I like very much, aside from two things: I think a slightly larger watch will look better on my wrist, and I would really like to have a 2nd time-zone indication since I have business in one, and in fact often two, different time zones from where I am.

Since I'm self-employed and basically work seven days a week, every day's a work day and every day's a play day too. So it's easy for me to forget what day of the week it is, thus I am pretty committed to having the day display on my watch. This latter rules out 99% of the GMT watches out there, and 100% of the ones I'd buy for aesthetic or quality reasons.

So, since I really like my DA36, but will have to part with it to get another good-quality watch with 2nd time zone, I've been looking seriously at the DA44/DA46.

If anyone who actually owns one of these can tell me how they like it for this purpose, I'd really appreciate it. I clicked through 20 of the 34 pages in the "Show your Damasko!" thread, and only saw a handful of pics of Damaskos with the 1-12 bezel where the bezel wasn't lined with the 1-12 numbers or indicators (and a couple where it was in-between, which was....interesting). I don't know if these owners don't use the 1-12 function, or just thought it looked better for the pic that way.

My question re the DA46 would be, does it work to have two different numbers together, (I'd use it for 16-18-hour differences, i.e. USA to Asia time difference, which just means mentally changing AM to PM and vice versa)? Is it distracting when you're just checking local time?

For the DA44, not having a number for local time, likewise does it work, and is it distracting, not by having two different numbers, but only the "wrong" number when checking local time?

If any owners of these two models would post pics with the bezels 2-5 hours off of 12, I'd greatly appreciate that.

Last, the ??? Any other makes/models I might consider? Limitations are pretty severe--under $1500, similar aesthetics, tool watch--i.e. at least 100m WR and good anti-shock/anti-magnetic specs.

I have another question about the bezel on these Damaskos but decided to post it separately, check it out if you're curious.

Hey,
the second time zone on the DA 44 works very well for me :)

If you like the design of your DA 36 then go for the DA 46. If you want to have something different, then get a DA 44 ;) i really love my DA 44 black!

Thanks for those photos! Two different positions no less. Now I have something to look at and see how I like the look of the 1-12 bezel used this way.

I didn't know they had the bracelet in black too. I haven't considered any black watches as I'm concerned I'd change my mind on the look after a year or two and have to resell, but this watch really looks stunning especially with the bracelet.
I also work internationally but in general i don't find it difficult to add or substract a few hours for the 4 locations I regularly communicate with :)
This being said, my aviation style GShock GWA1000D is occasionally useful to quickly find time in locations I rarely interact with: align the second hand to a city on the bezel and the hour and minute hands will automagically move in the new position. Really quite a nice travel watch, and more gentrified than most G Shocks.

that does not look like a Damasko bracelet to me. I am curious myself. Very nice!

I _can_ do it to, in fact I don't really need a $1000-1500 watch to tell the time either :). But it would be nice, rather than having to remember, is it 16 or 17 hours difference (due to DST), and so on, to have it right there on my watch. The fact that I can't remember the day half the time either might give an indication to the strength of my memory (or rather lack thereof :)).

Yes, I too thought that looked a little different from the Damasko bracelet, and yes it does look really nice. What do you have there, uhrentot?
Anyone with a DA46 with 1-12 bezel willing to share a pic? I'd really like to be able to compare the look of the two, thanks!
Hi Mike, thanks for the pics, but as I wrote in my original post, I'm looking for pics with the bezel offset to 2 or more hours off the dial so I can see how it would look using it for a second time zone. 20+ pages of the show your Damasko thread offered plenty with the bezel in line with the dial. So....if you have one with it offset, by all means post it.
Kannome,

I am positive you can envision how it would look based off the available pictures!

From what I have seen of these models in person and in pictures, the second time zone is extremely easily read on any of the available dial combinations... perhaps with a slight edge going to the 44/45 line as there is bit more visual distinction between the numerals on the bezel and non-numeral indices on the dial.

Regardless, you will certainly find that all can be read handily at a glance.
Not in the post I answered to, sorry...

OK, well from the original post then again:

If I could envision it, I wouldn't have asked. It's not about legibility, but as my original post makes clear (at least I thought it did):

"My question re the DA46 would be, does it work to have two different numbers together, (I'd use it for 16-18-hour differences, i.e. USA to Asia time difference, which just means mentally changing AM to PM and vice versa)? Is it distracting when you're just checking local time?"

Thanks for that, it would indeed help to have a face-on shot. I just want to be able to stare at the face of the watch like that a few times and see how I like the DA46 vs. DA44 with the 1-12 bezel off-set.
