No. Watches are around magnetic fields all the time. The barrel spring and escapement is usually ferrous in most watches so that's what gets magnetized and usually results in a short spring stroke which means a much faster beat per second. When the watch starts gaining time suddenly and rapidly, then it's likely magnetized. A simple few seconds on a demagnetized is all it usually takes.
