I just won this watch on an ebay auction for $72 + $8.95 shipping. The watch is brand new without tags, but has the original box. Since i'm new to watches I just want to know if I got a decent deal on it. If not what would you have paid for it?

I don't like to rain on anyone's parade.

If you like it, congratulations! Generally though, it's a better idea to ask before bidding/winning to see if others think there is some value there. It looks like this would be a SKP333, but to me it doesn't appear to be "brand new" due to what looks like wear on the bezel and strap. These are discontinued, and were (in my opinion) a fairly common offering someone would see at a mall or department store.

An online Seiko dealer ("Authorized Dealer = AD", meaning you'd have the Seiko factory warranty) sells a related model (SKP332) for $108 which is truly brand new, with tags and a full factory warranty.

That style isn't what I personally like, so to me I don't see value in it. But maybe there are others here that may think you did just fine.

edit: It's not a SKP333, as there is no date window. The design is similar enough that they are probably somehow "related".

The SKP33 would have a date window at the 3 o'clock position... Jomas "had" it at one time for $131.63 did a quick search on the Seiko 7N00-8A49 and it looks like 99.9% of references to that are on eBay... not much info to see... I did see one link eBay Which appears to be Ebay in Japan? Anyway it listed the watch as being from 1984 to 1999?

I agree with Topher... it does look worn on the strap... hard to say with the bezel as it could be a reflection... Now apparently it is the SAME picture as for this site outofpawn who had it for sale... for $65.00 and their description says "Classic Men's Seiko Black face stainless steel watch comes with the original lizard leather black band. Watch has been tested and is in running well with minor scratches but clean crystal. Number on back of watch 7N00-8A49 971251."

Ok so did you overpay for it? Well... thats kind of subjective I guess... if you like that Movado look... then this watch fits the bill... and if it's working well, If the finish is in pristine condition, and most of all, if you like it... then I would say No... you paid a somewhat reasonable amount for for it... Wear it in good health and enjoy it! Where else can you get many years of enjoyment for $72.00?

If the condition is NOT as you expected when it arrives... (As I expect may be the case after looking at the rest of the pictures on OutofPawn's site)... well then perhaps you may have overpaid.. but be thankful it wasn't a thousand dollar watch...

I have the this watch and I love it. I think Seiko designers took the original Movado design and did it much better. The dial is all black with a subtle texture that makes the brand and hour numbers almost invisible. It is my favorite dress watch and that is my problem. It is a simple two hand plus date quartz battery movement. It has been running now for more than eleven years, but sitting in a box in a drawer for most of that time. I save it for very special dress-up occasions that are getting fewer as I get older. But I want this watch to last. As an analog watch, there must be some mechanical moving parts that will wear out eventually. Would it be better to remove the battery rather than keep it running and only check on it when there is a time change, like this day-light to standard today?
