Greetings. The specs look the same. What's the difference? Forgive my ignorance.

I own the Mako XL and am thinking of a smaller diver for my brother-in-law, who has thinner wrists. He loves watches with a blue face. He also lives in Vietnam, so I need something water resistant. My print point is max $175 shipped.

I'm open to other watch suggestions. Stainless bracelet required. Leather or rubber in that heat would make his wrist sweat like crazy.

The differences between the 'Mako' and the 'Ray' have been discussed before, as they are probably the most popular Orient models. They are quite similar, but differ in details some find very important, but your average Joe won't :).

Differences (off the top of my head):
*Bezel
*Bracelet (polished bits on the Ray)
*Different logo on the clasp (not all that relevant)
*Dial (dots vs stripes/numbers)
*Hands

The quality, movement, size etc. all identical. It's primarily an aesthetics thing.
