In men's Seiko watches, entry level movements are generally considered the 7S26 (and 36?)... but women's Seiko watches seem to indicate a few different calibres in the 4200 series. The women seem to get handwinding.. is the 4200 series better overall? What are some other differences? And what does the end number indicate ( 4206,7,8 )?

I don't know exactly where the 42xx fits but I suspect it is a slightly higher tire movement than the 7s26.

The last digit normally indicates date, day/date or no date. I've only seen the 4205 and 4206 calibers though.

I can't add anything to the above posts really except that the 42xx come in 33mm and 38mm versions.
