From what I know Geckota is the brand of their watches. I think they wanted to have that part kinda separate from the accessories wing. I've bought one watch from them but I don't recall Geckota was even a separate site back then.

Their company started out as watchgecko and sold only straps, accessories etc.
The idea to produce watches came some years later, and "geckota" was probably seen as a more palatable brand name for a watch brand, than "watchgecko".

However, based on the many comments on these forums, people still feel "geckota" is too lizard-y of a name.

 

The rumours of the WatchGecko guys starting up a cryptocurrency called "GeckoCoin" are all true, btw. The digital wallet app will be named "LizardPouch", and it will be pegged against facebook's Libra.

 

but you can only spend your GeckoCoin on stratum 2 time servers where for enough GeckoCoin your watch's time will be official time for a split second.

 

The leather straps I bought from them have Geckota branding stamped on the backside. On the other hand the microfiber cloths which they sent for free with the straps have WatchGecko branding.

It's the same company, they just have a separate website for their watches - but their watches are also on their main site. The watch (Geckota) website also has a "Special Projects" (I've seen a Kickstarter for one Geckota watch) and an "Outlet" page.
One Youtuber said they also had an offshoot Zuludiver website, but I can't find one.

Agree with that, this way it only conplicate things.

 

WatchGecko has more models of straps than Geckota. Maybe they sell straps from other brands too.

 

Hi watch brethrens! I bought 2 straps from watchgecko. Couldnt haggle for a free delivery (Costs GBP15 for international deliveries) but was able to apply the 10% discount code watchuseek.

When I browsed over the Geckota website, they did offer free international delivery. However, the above stated code doesnt seem to work . If you do have a Geckota code, please share this across.

There are a lot of straps and bracelets which are not available in the Geckota website but are in the Watchgecko website.

You can save on costs depending on your location (if free delivery is applicable) and if you apply the discount code. Do the math prior to making a purchase. In addition, do check the UK tax applicability on your purchase. Godspeed.

Funny: I've just placed an order on watchgecko for a sailcloath strap. I've got the free shipping to France but the code WATCHUSEEK did not work.

 

Might be. At least some of the old codes (like reward) have largely been disabled nowadays.
