how superior is the in-house movement anyway? If at all.
Not superior enough to justify the means. My local watchmaker does excellent work and he services Breitlings amongst many other luxury brands. He informed me that their in-house movements were very complicated and more expensive to work on - just his opinion I can鈥檛 speak to it. If you go to Breitling for service, you pay what you pay. More complexity means more things that can break.

FWIW, I have never been a fan of Breitling aviation watches. They are full of stuff never to be used, but worse for an aviation watch, difficult to read. Yours, to me, is certainly in that category. So if it were me, yes I鈥檇 offload the Breitling Navitimer.

Now many of their divers, whilst expensive, are well designed, functional and easy to read.

Free advice is worth every penny you pay for it.
