Hi guys, need a little help. so I just bought a brand new Ingersoll IN6803 with a miyota cal. 9015 movement for 100$. (u can read a quick review about it here :
https://www.watchuseek.com/threads/ingersoll-in6803-empire-state-automatic.1701106/ )
This watch probably has been behind the counter (or in a warehouse who knows) for more than 5-6 years. I wanted to know if I need to have it serviced to use it? I live in a fair to say "poor" country so I need this watch to run for at least some years before I can afford another watch!
I've read that these Japanese movements ain't worth servicing and etc. but guys talking about this don't care about the price of 9015, it's really expensive for me and I can't afford to replace it with a new one, at least not for some years.
So will this watch work properly for at least a few years? It will be harmful to use it now without sevicing? is it doomed to stop working soon?!:)
I will really appreciate it if you guys enlighten me on this! (sorry for bad english)

Kinda like cars that sit in showrooms for months.

It will be fine, no service required unless when you start it up the deviation is awful.

That is a good deal for a watch with a 9100 movement. Enjoy!

Since it's a expensive reach for you shouldn't you have asked that question before you bought?
To think of it, its a $100 9015. It's a good deal. Even the service cost would still be cheaper than a different watch with the same movement.

For you maybe, the OP sees it differently

The Miyota 9015 should run for years, maybe decades, before it needs servicing, or more likely, replacement. The calibre was launched in 2010, and I've yet to hear of anyone having to service or replace one, other than because of a defect.

The defect rate on the 9015 is very low, and from what we've seen, bad units typically reveal themselves soon after delivery.

As such, if your watch seems to be running well, then there's no reason to think it won't serve you well for years to come.
