Universal badly damaged two of my high grade mechanicals. The service manager, Boris, lied to me on the phone, claiming my Grand Seiko would not stop winding because of a clutch mechanism...it now stops properly having been serviced by Seiko. After two failed repair Boris had his father, Effem - the owner - personally service my watches. He badly scratched the back of one, debris was visible through the disply back of the other. When I called the third time, Effem threatened me with physical violence, then made obscene and vulgar statements and hung up. This establishment is grossly unprofessional, fraudulent, and is owned by a particularly nasty individual. Please note - this is the N. American service center for Universal Geneve. They are clearly not competent to service high grade mechanicals.
I have complete documentation on these events.

Why?

 

They used to be excellent. They serviced my Zodiac Seawolf Chrono >20 years ago on several occasions (every 4+years) and it always came back great.

Very suspicious.

Nothing for 10 years, 3 posts last year and 30+ speed posts in last 24 hours.

Based on Google Maps reviews of the shop, OP may be right. Would not be a place I'd send watches for servicing probably.

Still begs the question, though; why re-publish again twelve years later? In 2037, will you do another republishing post?

 

Boris is a complete fraud, and Boris owns it - universalwatch.net . No man is beyond redemption, but we should seek evidence of that before having our timepieces butchered by a con artist.

 

If post #100 doesn’t declare which watch is for sale, I will be sorely disappointed.

Effem, the father, passed away about a year ago.
Boris runs the watch repair side & his brother Lenny runs the Ernst Benz side of the business (They own EB).
After 13 years, wow, maybe it’s time to let go of that resentment..

I mean, that's a long time. Long enough so as to no longer be relevant.
